Speaking of USWNT any thoughts on the newest 2024 Concacaf W Gold Cup roster? Missing are veterans Morgan and Sauerbrunn. Mal Swanson, Savannah DeMelo, and Gisele Thompson are supposed to be training players. I think only one player from Georgia, Sonnett. Goalkeepers (3): Jane Campbell (Houston Dash), Casey Murphy (North Carolina Courage), Alyssa Naeher (Chicago Red Stars) Defenders (8): Alana Cook (Seattle Reign FC), Abby Dahlkemper (San Diego Wave FC), Crystal Dunn (NJ/NY Gotham FC), Tierna Davidson (NJ/NY Gotham FC), Emily Fox (Arsenal FC, ENG), Naomi Girma (San Diego Wave FC), Casey Krueger (Washington Spirit), Jenna Nighswonger (NY/NJ Gotham FC) Midfielders (6): Korbin Albert (Paris Saint-Germain, FRA), Sam Coffey (Portland Thorns FC), Lindsey Horan (Olympique Lyon, FRA), Rose Lavelle (NJ/NY Gotham FC), Olivia Moultrie (Portland Thorns FC), Emily Sonnett (NJ/NY Gotham FC) Forwards (6): Mia Fishel (Chelsea FC, ENG), Midge Purce (NJ/NY Gotham FC), Trinity Rodman (Washington Spirit), Jaedyn Shaw (San Diego Wave FC), Sophia Smith (Portland Thorns FC), Lynn Williams (NJ/NY Gotham FC) Heard Sauerbrunn is back in due to injury to Cook. I am still not sold on some of our midfield. I like Nighswonger getting more looks. She was a very impressive college player and has looked good as a pro. Love that Purce is in again. She continues to play strong. Her style is different than the other forwards that are put out wide in that she plays it as a more traditional winger who likes to send in pretty crosses. We need more of that.

I’m not sold on the midfield either. While Horan is a very good player, I don’t think shes a 10 (attacking midfielder). IMO, she plays more like a 6 defensive midfielder. Big, technical player that sees the field well. I personally thought the quality of some of our chances could have been better if we had a more dynamic playmaker in the attacking midfielder positions.
Agree on Midge Purse. I think she had a good camp previously and then got hurt (?). Could be a game changer.
On Nighswonger, I don’t think I’ve ever seen her play but sounds like an interesting player to watch. Thanks.
IMO USWNT centerbacks have always looked good. Sauerbrunn is very consistent. Girma is a generational type player at the position.
