Kudos to TYSA for rebuilding their academy program after the GSA merger debacle: www.tysa.com/Default.aspx?tabid=298545We need more smaller clubs like TYSA offering kids opportunities, not more mergers. This looks like a fantastic hire.

I've heard many positive things about Michael Lynch. Who was in this role prior to the merge?
When we played GSA-Granite in the fall (u9-u12 academy), how was it different than what TYSA will be? Did some of there top players in each group move over to GSA-lilburn?
How did TYSA do in the pre-merger days when it came to putting together u13 and above teams. were they competitive? what level did most the teams play?

I have also heard great things from players who have had him as a coach! Should be a good hire for TYSA.

It looks like he was a director previously at Henry County?
Probably many of the GSA Granite players will not come back to TYSA. The better players will go to other clubs. Some maybe to GSA Lilburn but many probably to other clubs located closer to the TYSA area (CF Central?, Inter Atlanta?, Chiefs?).
TYSA was strong at the academy level before the merger. I'm not sure how they did at the select level.

I guess he wanted to take on a leadership role vs pure coaching, makes sense given his background. What team(s) was/is he coaching at UFA?

So is Gareth out? Thought he was their DoC?? Gareth is the rec director. With so many TYSA rec teams and his coaching duties Clayton State, that's probably enough to keep him busy. I suspect that the select teams that practice out of Granite will stay with GSA. With kids on those teams being from a pretty wide geographical area, it probably makes sense to stay with the bigger club. For the younger teams, we'll see. It's probably not as attractive for U12's to stay with TYSA since other clubs will have more of a turnout at tryouts. I wouldn't be surprised to see the youngest teams stay. Some academy kids went back to rec this year. With an in-house program available again, they might be encouraged to come back. Looking back on the GA soccer site, TYSA had 8 select teams prior to the merger. The highest were B and II. The younger boys academy teams were strong. The girls were more hit or miss. There were some ODP players for both boys and girls. TYSA's rec program is huge so there's definitely a good base to build on.

We were with Gol and plan on moving back to TYSA. This is an exciting hire! Also - this Friday, meet and greet with the new Academy/Select DOC. 6-8pm. Plus some Street Soccer! www.tysa.com/Default.aspx?tabid=193181Where you with Tysa prior to the merge?

Where you with Tysa prior to the merge? Yes, but on the Rec side. Moved over to Gol for Academy. I've read mixed reviews regarding Gol... I'd say we have had a pretty good experience. With the Gol dissolution, we're more than happy to come "home". Like I said, it's pretty exciting. We're looking forward to the new direction. Wish you lots of luck!! I have heard great things about your new DOC :-)
