I read lots of "soccer".. Many pieces found through Twitter. Some, I discover via links shared by serial antagonists of the US Soccer environment. No names need to be given, but fair to say these guys generally find the MLS and US Soccer to be colluding to stifle the sports growth in the USA. One particular antagonist constantly beats the drum that MLS affiliated writers are marketers, not journalists. And I am a believer. One real journalist that I've come to appreciate, in the mix, is Liviu Bird from Sports Illustrated. (Remember that magazine, the one that was cool before ESPN)? Here is one such piece of journalism. www.si.com/planet-futbol/2015/08/27/us-soccer-youth-clubs-compensation-solidarity-fifa-meetingUS Soccer needs to fix this. It's quite f'd up.

My big comment is here in the U.S. Most of the clubs are pay to play. I.e. parents spend a lot of money as well. I have no problems with clubs getting money back, but it has to be used for the right reasons - scholarships, reduced fees, assistance for travel expenses, help paying coaches expenses etc.
Obviously the few clubs with major reduced fees and voluntary staff is a different story and deserve every penny
