She's not doing her former teammates any favors here.

She owned it - and posted this the next day
Last night I was arrested for DUII in Portland after dinner at a friend's house.
Those that know me, know that I have always demanded excellence from myself. I have let myself and others down.
I take full responsibility for my actions. This is all on me. I promise that I will do whatever it takes to ensure that my horrible mistake is never repeated.
I am so sorry to my family, friends, fans and those that look to follow a better example.
## Police stated she was respectful and polite while being charged and obviously is taking responsibility for her actions and mistake. Very few celebrities of any gender do that so kudos to her. I'm glad to see her owning up to it and apologizing so quickly.
Now the nasty tweets two of the USMT players made after shows that Abby has more class and grace in her little finger than Bedoya and Jozy will ever dream of having.

It's getting worse for her and is looking like the statement she issued earlier was just a smokescreen. Very sad really as she was a shining example to younger players, now she is crashing back down to earth and will land with a big bump. www.bbc.com/sport/football/35976828

She admitted to doing drugs ten years ago not recently. We've had presidents admit to both and not be skewered this badly. That article is garbage journalism and the headline is more akin to the Enquirer than the BBC. Oh this just in. She's gay, too. Quick take your straight girls out of soccer lest Abby be the example for them all. (Sarcasm) Her athletic accomplishments stand. She's human. She made a mistake and now just because her name is associated with a very justifiable lawsuit, the media will dredge up any and everything to smear her name.

Court documents connected to the 35-year-old's arrest said that "the defendant tried cocaine at age 25".
In court documents, officers wrote that she first used marijuana at age 24 and her last use was at 25.
Why is this even relevant to this case?? Seems to me they're just trying to taint her at this point.

If you read the article it does state that her admitted drug use was in her 20's, it also states it is standard practice for officers to ask about prior drug use. Not really sure why you seem to be taking this personally. The BBC doesn't even mention anything about the lawsuit.

Not really sure why you seem to be taking this personally. The BBC doesn't even mention anything about the lawsuit. I read the article - that's why I commented that it was old news. Its not that I'm taking this 'personally' as a working woman who has seen the wage gap first hand, I'm passionate about that topic. It's wrong - period. Whether you're a soccer player or a corporate manager - equal work and equal pay is common sense. Someone earlier in the thread mentioned that Abby isn't doing her former teammates any favors. Hmmm - like OJ did? Or Kobe Bryant? Ray Bucanan? Michael Vick? I think murder, rape and dog fighting are pretty nasty things and yet their teams seemed to move on. Why attack a former USWT player for her past mistakes and this current one that she did own up to and accept responsibility for and say it'll hurt her current teammates?

I keep wondering why she plead not guilty? Seems to me she admitted from the beginning that this happened?
Saw article this morning where she spoke with the press on Tuesday night and said
"I will at some point be completely transparent and the truth will come out so, trust me on that."
Is there more to this story that we don't know?

Yea, I was wondering the same thing, the articles all said she plead not guilty with no explanation on why?

Pleading not guilty is just a legal tactic, she admitted it and apologized, if she didn't do anything wrong why apologize. I'm sure her lawyers advised her to plead not guilty in hopes to plea for a lesser punishment.

quick google search:
"The 35-year-old is scheduled to return to court on April 26 for a potential change of plea. It is virtually unheard of for defendants in Oregon to plead guilty at their first court appearances. Judges generally discourage it because they want to make sure that defendants have had time to go over the case with their attorneys to ensure that they are making an educated decision if and when they decide to enter a guilty plea."

I totally understand the legal tactics, I am just curious about her statement about the truth coming out

She admitted getting arrested, not doing anything unlawful. Smart from a legal perspective. Not sure why she would admit the casual drug use ten years ago.

She only admitted getting arrested, not doing something unlawful. Smart from a legal standpoint.
