Is there a firm/consistent date? I know some clubs have signing nights soon.

There's no way they can *before* signing night... from what I understand clubs will have to declare their teams and try to justify the level based on personnel kept/signed.... and they won't know team makeup (with certainty) until after signing night.
Seems like it's usually just 4 weeks or so before season start that brackets come out, then a couple weeks later the clubs get preliminary schedules, then public schedules a week or so before the season starts.
I can't imagine it will be any earlier this year with all the upheaval.

You will start hearing/seeing some signs in July if I recall -- Classic/Athena level names placed next to your team name in the affinity system. Some folks somehow in the past find weblinks with each group.

What about RPL decisions?

I would love it if someone could write a post on how these divisions are settled. I see some clubs detailing what teams will be which division while others don't. I really don't understand the process and I'd like to know how much of it is politics, because I'm sure some of that goes on. And while I don't like that, I understand that it will happen. But I'd really like to know the degree to which lobbying by clubs actually has an effect on the process.

If you finish mid-pack in a certain level then that team has a good idea that's where they will be again next year. If they finish top or bottom then you have relegation or promotion to consider.

And this year I'm betting you'll see completely different divisions as some teams completely disbanded from the mandate or not being able to attract enough like level talent.

Will the U15 (last season's U13) teams have a spring season in 2017? I know U15s didn't before the age mandate upped everyone by a year. And will last year's U13, now U15, use last Fall's results or the Spring results? The State regulations were written before the new age brackets were incorporated.

They'll be no promotion and relegation from it since the big clubs said they wouldn't be able to field enough teams to keep them competitive.

Are they fielding teams in the fall and not the spring? It's a year long commitment, right?

I will not have my kid play both, that's asking for injuries. Yes big clubs can field teams but it will be with the kids that didn't make the HS or choose not to play HS. Spring will be a friendly season only

Remember that half of the u15s this year are still in 8th grade so the club spring season is all they will have. So not just for kids that don't make the high school team.

Spring will be a friendly season only It's not a friendly season so to say. Georgia Soccer for the the 15s will make the match ups and brackets with all the teams that declare for spring. So it could be a mix bracket of Classic 1 and 2 or Athena A & B but no one will be able to get promoted or demoted based on those results. This is there battle because yes half those kids are 9th graders that might play HS and the other half are 8th graders. Just sucks that those 8th graders are punished and loss one of their 8 seasons of competitive soccer just so the older kids can go play a high level of Rec soccer in HS. This is where I wish we could go back 20 years and have the u15s and up all still play spring seasons starting in late March/early April. It's the only thing that makes since short of moving HS to the fall.

Ok, those too..and I think its less than half. And depending where you live some have middle school soccer.
At the end of the day, its not going to be for everyone and GA Soccer has already said that it will be a friendly season and won't count towards any standings

Spring will be a friendly season only Fees now drop at U16 since U15s are expected to play the full year. Got to pay a year round club coach now. The commitment at signing was for a full year of U15, HS or no HS. Especially, top players since the clubs will want to keep the skill regression from HS to a minimum.

Where does all this skill regression happen in high school? I guess it really depends on the coaching staff and level of play of the other teammates. My daughter learned to play center back after playing forward on club. Actually learned to play better soccer and leading the field.

Of course, your mileage may vary. Some are good some are not so good. There are schools that get 100+ try out numbers and there are others that take everyone just to field a team. There's HS out there with half a team of kids who have never played before. Lot of marching band members who need something to do in the spring (no offense to marching band members). One local HS player told me this week that she never broke a sweat during HS practices. Practices spent doing red light green light and Simon says drills from the English teacher/coach. </rant>

She was on the JV team, One of just a few select players on her team. The rest were either rec players or never played. Doesn't matter as the teacher that was the coach couldn't have trained them properly anyway. Training consisted of the girls spending time either laying in the grass or chatting for long periods of time. My child had to do club training with u14s just to be able to look somewhat in soccer shape at tryouts. She will probably play rec during the off-season next year. Even if the training is similar, at least it won't be a daily waste of time and putting a crunch on her homework/study time and the games will be on weekends.

My son will play U15 in the fall (he was U14 this Spring). If he makes his high school team, he will play both club and high school. For him, high school soccer is not about playing "quality soccer", it is about being able to represent his school playing the sport that he loves. I do agree that the younger 02's (8th graders) should not be punished by having no Spring season and I think it is great that they will have a Spring season. But on the same token, those kids who are now 9th graders should be able to tryout for their high school team if they chose to do so.
