For those who have been around the block and might have/had kids that play(ed) college soccer, curious about your thoughts regarding placement services. On the surface, it sounds good to have a professional help guide and connect you to an appropriate program.
Thanks,

Thanks, To be honest in my opinion this should be something your Coach or club helps you with. Not someone who has no clue about your kid and his/her abilities. If the coach can't or won't then the DOC should.

We are on that 'block' right now and have not used any of those services. I'm sure some may be helpful or reputable but honestly I'm skeptical. Most of the information given in these programs could be done on your own - getting coaches email addresses, researching schools for an academic fit, writing your intro letter. You can google most of that and do it for free.
We know one family that paid $1500 for a service and got literally nothing - just some templates for their kid to use when emailing coaches.

UFA had a program in September very useful. Bottom line school program first athletic second. Grades first and foremost.

So, my son's club purchased an individual membership with seems to be a great site/service. Then, we could choose to pay for a more personalized placement service, which would include more than just an email template, etc.

I get dozens of emails each week from the recruiting sites (BeRecruited, NCSA, CaptainU etc) and it can be a little tedious to go through all of them to try to evaluate potential student-athletes for our program. However, I try to always read and respond to a personalized email from players (when they've taken the time to customize it to my school and show they've done appropriate research). IMHO there's not much you can pay for from a recruiting service that you can't do yourself if you write good emails, include a video of yourself, and provide all pertinent academic/athletic information about yourself.
