Not even the best Morgan on the team....
but a great strategic pick anyway if it makes European women's soccer more visible.

This award has very little to do with US Soccer agenda unless you think Sunil called all CONCACAF members and told them how to vote:
"In an equally-weighted vote among Member Association women’s and men’s national team coaches/captains, media and fans, Morgan captured the award for the second time, while this is the first honor for Ruiz."
"The CONCACAF Awards are designed to honor the year’s outstanding performers and achievements in confederation-sanctioned competitions involving national teams at all levels and age categories, including FIFA World Cup matches and qualifying for both genders. Performances also eligible for recognition included those achieved in professional club football leagues within the CONCACAF Member Associations, as well as the Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League."
It is hard to argue anyone had a better year than her given the description of the award. Not to mention her teams do not score nearly as many goals if she is not occupying defenders in the way that she does because of her speed and the sophistication of her runs. All you have to do is listen to other coaches talk about the trouble she causes their teams. I don't hear any of you complaining about Carli Lloyd winning FIFA player of year. That is truly a travesty.
