What are peoples thoughts on Atlanta United's Youth Partner Program? www.atlutd.com/tickets/group/youth-partner-programinteresting take by Kephern Fuller -- who is very big on getting/taking his players to europe and developing players outside the current traditional US soccer system. See his comment below the tweet.

I'm not sure why he took that tweet so out of context. I didn't think this had anything to do with training compensation, it's just a ticket promotion. Atlanta United knows a good portion of their fan base will come from youth soccer families, so they're just making it more appealing for those families to buy tickets.
I have said before that we need training compensation to help end pay for play, but in a hypothetical situation where training compensation did exist, Atlanta United would have to develop the player into a contributing first team player and then sell him before any compensation would be paid to his former club. Most of the players in the Atlanta United youth academy that have come from Atlanta area clubs are middle school aged or younger, no money is going to change hands because a 12 year old switched youth teams.

How do you determine what club developed a player that eventually went to play for ATLUnited? some kids changed clubs multiple times, and what about the GA United kids? does each club from the alliance get a credit?? 8 is not a big number considering how many kids play for the academy.
Not really sure what to think of this?

I get the feeling that the GA United kids were considered GA united kids this past year vs UFA, SSA, GSA etc.

They are already reaching out to certain ODP players to invite them to practice. While it doesn't impact me I wonder how their current club coaches feel about this.

Yea would be interested how clubs feel about this. I think its great. Yes it sucks our local clubs will constantly lose top players, but I'd much rather see kids brought in for multiple training sessions to be evaluated vs a random tryout in May with XXX numbers of kids.

Yea, not sure they are trying to give credit to the club that developed vs what was the most recent club the kids were at.

I think its strange honestly, we had a few Atlanta United guys watching games this past weekend ---- Scouting 10 year olds. Seems very very crazy to me and hence the stupidity of u12 DA. The rising u12 class, 2006s, are currently mostly 10 years of age, with a very small number who just turned 11. 10 year olds, nuts.

Partner program for marketing is a great idea. I noticed Dacula SC have a ticket discount code, which is awesome.
As for the off topic turn of this thread.. I agree with Kep Fuller. Absolutely right that a closed (therefore exclusive) NFL type pro soccer system is bad for US soccer. Good for Uncle Art and okay for soccer but not going to raise the tide if the worst teams have nothing to lose.
I will go to AU games and enjoy them but for top soccer I will watch TV.

I hope all the DA clubs see this as a way to have an open door with AtlUTD. Clubs have to acknowledge that most of the kids will be back into the regular club system. 1-4 years later. So why not have an open door with Atlanta United. Maybe Concorde will see this.
So if Atlanta United expresses interest in a player, the club should be willing to allow them go and have a chance.

If a club "loses a player" to AU, they should applaud that player and themselves.

But the program cited above is about putting butts in the seats.... not about their youth academy.

Agree. That's not happening at the moment.
