For the image below current rankings as of today of the ECNL tables by age group---
Top 5 teams are just ECNL clubs.
The bottom teams in bold are both ECNL/DA clubs
Not trying to make this a high school vs not high school thread -- but I have heard plenty rumors of girls saying they will choose high school over Girls DA. We will see. But, if the top players from Concorde, Tophat, Orlando City and Jacksonville all choose DA over ECNL, the impact on the division will be huge. I took the average rankings of the clubs and ignored the points per game. Buy using this metric -These four clubs do appear to be the top 4 clubs in the league. It hard to argue with Concorde and Tophats rankings. I will admit, I have not seen how the majority of these teams play, but they are getting results.
You will also notice that the other Florida teams don't appear to have fared as well and are probably interchangeable with the remaining encl clubs.
I do think CASL will be extremely competitive and add some great games to the DA division. I personally don't think Charlotte academy is as strong as CASL or the Atlanta teams, but that's just a historical eye test vs fact. UFA will also be competitive and continue to grow and attract players. I think they have something to prove.
GSA seems to always be pretty strong with the younger age groups and then not do as well with the older girls. (maybe i'm crazy). AFU seems to be right where they are, average. There teams are typically slightly better than the top non ecnl teams, but not as good as the top ECNL teams. On Paper, I'm not sure what Boca brings to DA. I'm not as familiar with CESA, but from a geographic perspecitve, they make perfect sense to be a DA club, However, I don't think they expressed interest in becoming a DA club and know a few years ago they had just the u14 group for the boys and I guess decided it wasn't worth pursing the older age groups and dropped out completely.
There is no question the southeast conference will look different. The addition of the Tenn teams will help tremendously, and by getting rid of the DA sides, the league will be extremely competitive from top to bottom. It still will be a quality league for sure.
