What's the word on a U13 ECNL age group starting next year? That would be the 2005 girls. If it is happening would it be just the 4 current ECNL clubs or would it be expanded to other clubs for that age to avoid travel like they did for the boys DA?

Isn't that "Pre-ECNL"? I thought last fall they played Athena A

That is how it has been in the past but there has been talk about true ECNL starting at U13 so they won't play Athena A at all. It changes the U13 year completely.

Then my assumption would be that you would travel the same as the older groups do.

I think answer is they have not announced whether U13s will play same schedule as older teams. I understood a decision/announcement was due this week, but I am not really in the administrative loop. Taking this step would be to combat GDA of course. Get players into system earlier.

I assume you know they are starting official ECNL competition at U13 for the coming season. Meaning I suppose the majority of their schedule will be playing against other ECNL clubs the same weekends as the older teams. From what I understand clubs are not required to have U13 teams and there will not be national championship events like there are for the older teams. But I am not clear on all of the details.

Anywhere to find additional info about this? Do you think it will be a significantly better option than U13 Athena A? Have a daughter on a very good team, very good coach, intermediate size non-ECNL/DA club. ODP player - not trying to be arrogant, but easily one of top 10 05 girls in GA. Not excited about fighting traffic to make practices and significant weekend travel (enjoy an out of town tourney or two a year - but every other weekend may be a bit much). Any advice?

Thanks for the info, I have not seen any announcements on this. How will the try-outs work? Will there be any ID sessions? I have the same questions as Fanatic21, will it be worth it to start ECNL at such a young age? If anyone has more details please share.
