My U15 daughter has a lower back injury and will be out 5-6 weeks. This will be the end of her season including State Cup. They think it is a stress fracture from overuse. Physical therapy and meds have not helped. She will have a bone scan on Monday.
My question is what to do about tryouts?
It looks like she may have to sit out the Fall season. This may not be a bad thing, as she was close to burnout with playing HS, club, and conditioning.
I have enjoyed the break. I just want her to get back healthy! And maybe this break will renew her passion for the game that she worked so hard at, and has a deep passion for.

First, sorry to hear about your daughter. It happens, but it stinks for those who love the game. If your daughter at age U15 has to sit out Fall season, I would first ask what league does she play in? Asking because tryouts may not be necessary.
And even if she joins a club/team that has a Spring season (e.g. DA), then she can always come on out and tryout later - informally most likely. As long as she's not committed to a club at that time.

She is currently on an RPL team. The tricky thing is that we merged with another club that has other opportunities. Not to mention we do not know the other coaches.

I think you will have to have an honest conversation with the staff to layout -your daughters recovery time line -where she currently stands and where they expect her to stand following the merger -how have they handled injuries like this in the past etc
I know a few girls that this happened to, and they were told they would be reevaluated and assessed at the time when they come back from injury. That they would have a spot on the team when they came back, but playing time etc all depended on where she was physically and mentally after the injury.
