I think the poster is referring to: 2 hour DA tryouts in the am 2 hour regular tryouts in the evening
Which I agree is absurd. US soccer doesn't allow kids to play in 2 full games a day, but they allow this?

They want to attract players to da/ecnl.... then pass you down to their other teams if you don't make the cut imo

I'm gonna just say no to that craziness. The DA coaches can tell the other coaches how the kids did. If he's on the bubble, I might consider having my kid try out at a different club one night for ECNL or RPL but that's it. Good luck to everybody!

Yes, seems a little extreme. Why can't the ECNL/RPL/Classic/Athena coaches just come to the DA practice to see the kids? If they are truly on the bubble then the coach should just be honest with them on the 1st day to let them know they need to come back in the afternoon to confirm their placement. Having the kids go to 2 tryouts per day for 3 days isn't going to benefit anyone, especially by the 3rd day when fatigue kicks in. Tryouts are stressful enough, no need to double down on the experience.

I think a lot of you are assuming the player would play at that club no matter what.
DA is a big draw. My kid would want to attend the DA tryout, but if he didn't make that team, we are staying at our current club. This seems true for a lot of high level players that we've gotten to know.

I believe the goal is for you to tryout for the DA team and have options if you're not good enough(on the bubble) since usually there are different coaches and locations for both teams. Or like someone said earlier, if you know you're secure at your current club top team, then you don't have to go to another tryout later in the day. But it is crazy that you have two tryouts in one day. I believe next year they will change that and try to do all the tryouts in the format of AU first, then the next week non-AU DA tryouts and finally the week after, regular Academy tryouts.

DA and georgia soccer need to wake up - tryout schedule is Joke. Having kids tryout for 4 hours a day is ridiculous. Especially when they have been with the program for an entire season. Shows ya its not about the kids -- it's a business. So what you're saying is your kid can't play soccer for more then two hours a day? So they want to play DA but they wouldn't make it through an all day soccer camp that could be 4 hours or 8 hours?
