I'm sure Tata wouldn't be to happy to lose the 2 of them --
I'm very interested to listen because besides the money in return I'm not sure how AU benefits.
No question Almirón and Martinez are nasty - the reception and energy in the building when he got in the game was pretty special.
Losing the 2 of them could really set the franchise back from a results standpoint - I don't think it will effect the gate, as its clear this town Is A Soccer Town !

I don't want to see them go, either. But raising the level of the league is the goal, and selling good players to a better league is a good plan for now.
Also more sustainable than the current Ponzi scheme.

Selling them at their height to a European club would allow them to invest in more players, better scouting and so on. I don't think Almiron will be around for long, unfortunately.

Agreed with all of the previous posts but I'm very certain that Martinez and Almiron have dreams of playing in Europe because that's where the best players in the world are. MLS will continue to be a transitional league for young great players trying to get to Europe. Until things change with the current model, the MLS will continue to get the "ready to retire" European players who can get paid a nice salary. However, I think the MLS clubs are starting to create a business model like in Europe and South America which can bring a more competitive atmosphere.
Look at the fan base for Atlanta United and these sell out crowds we are attracting attention across the world. It's only going to get better for all of MLS and I don't think it will Phase out!

Anyone know who actually identified them as targets for the club?- was it Bocanegra or Eales or Tata. I had heard they only came to play for Tata, and without Tata we had no chance.

Also more sustainable than the current Ponzi scheme. It's a "closed book" company, but this is a measured rebuttal to my Ponzi scheme suggestion: medium.com/@isaacccccccccc_94128/unpacking-the-major-league-soccer-business-model-827f4b784bcd..so measured that it almost seems like it was written by one of their paid marketers. But interesting still.
