We are moving to the area at the end of August and want to see if any teams need a girls 2004 player. Field or goalkeeper. She is presently on a CSL team playing goalkeeper. Last year they were SDDA 1 and won first place. Just two weeks ago the team tied the Surf team that won National Cup. This move will be a big change for our daughter and I would love to find her a team. Please let me know if you hear of any clubs having openings. We will be looking at homes in the Alpharetta, Roswell, Johns creek area. Thanks, Nicole

Where you play is somewhat dependent upon where you will live. If you know that post it so it will help narrow down options.

Check out the ECNL clubs. Many close to your area of housing. High quality play that will also let your daughter play high school. DA teams won't allow high school or other team plays i.e. summer teams, indoor, ODP, etc.

There are quite a few good 04 teams around the North Fulton area. 2 DA teams, UFA and Concorde Central, 1 ECNL at Concorde Central, 1 RPL, GA Rush - don't think you can go wrong with any (all have pretty good coaches). Not sure how good the 04 Concorde North team will be, i think most of the top players are now on the Central DA and ECNL teams. Think the Roswell Santos team at that age is Athena B (not really high level, but not terrible). Not sure about Alpharetta Ambush.

I would definitely check out UFA Forsyth & talk to Iggy. He's one of the club founders & actually is coaching the 04 girls DA team this year. Mo Gonda is girls director for DA but check out this link for a profile on all coaches: forsyth.unitedfa.org/coaches-1493334875. I know the DA 04 roster isn't full but if they didn't start your daughter off there she could be designated a "developmental" player for DA & practice w/ them but play on the Premier team which plays in RPL & NPL. The Premier team coach is excellent too (Luthart) & has won multiple state titles for his HS girls team. I think most top level teams would always welcome a solid field player that can also be an effective goalie even if just as a backup. Not sure if the Premier team roster is full. They've always been open to letting girls come in mid-season & train w/ existing teams & give you an idea of where they fit from a competitive level w/o pressure. UFA is very much run like a professional organization w/ fitness trainers, nutritional staff, etc & they have multiple facilities that are top notch with both grass & turf fields. At state cup this past spring UFA won the state championship in all age brackets for girls from U13-U19 except one. Like another poster noted Concorde North had most or all of their top players go to Central for DA & ECNL. Also, they have no centralized field locations or support staff that compares to UFA. Yes, we are biased because we've experienced both. Reality is in North Atlanta suburbs you'll find plenty of appealing clubs, resources & competitive teams. For girls the most prominent north suburban clubs break down this way in level of competition: UFA Forsyth (Cumming): DA, RPL, Athena A UFA Norcross: RPL? Maybe Athena A only. Con Fire North (Alpharetta, Johns Creek): RPL (DA & ECNL play & practice out of Central location) Atlanta Fire United (Duluth): ECNL, RPL Alpharetta Ambush: RPL - some age groups Ga Rush (Milton): RPL Tophat: DA, ECNL, RPL - probably considered the top girls club in the SE but hard to break into a team at this point & they train out of Buckhead area in Atlanta. Hope this helps & good luck!

Call and talk to Phil Broome -nice guy - he used to be at UFA Forsyth and is now running UFA Milton. That branch of the club is growing and is another option for you depending on where you end up buying. Alpharetta Ambush and Roswell Santos have residency requirements - 'x'% of every team must live in the city - that can restrict the player pool significantly. Good clubs but know what you're getting into with that - those are truly city parks and rec programs that happen to have some strong teams - they are not true soccer clubs One last thing - you do realize that in GA we start school RIDICULOUSLY early and by the end of August, all counties will have been in school at least a few weeks. I'd call the schools where you are looking at buying and ask to speak to the soccer coach there - he or she may have a suggestion about a club based on the players at the school. Most high school coaches here are also club coaches as well.

One other suggestion to help out - have her current club coach call the clubs and coaches mentioned here. You can look up the numbers or emails on the websites and ask your current club coach to make an introduction of your daughter to them. I think that would make the transition much smoother and have some professional courtesy behind it - coach to coach. I think it'd definitely be the difference between being told 'roster's full' to 'we have room for one more' and it would make for far less stress on your daughter - assuming 04 is 7th or 8th grade - middle school is a hard time to be the new kid - if you can make the soccer transition easier, that would be a great help - even better if she has classmates on the team so I wouldn't stray too far from where you buy a house and she goes to school. If you have a good relationship with your current coach, I'd ask for help there.
Good luck. Welcome to Georgia!
