Surprised we haven't had any comments about the Big Rat's soccer shindig down in Orlando. Nice fields, lots of college coaches, big bucks for everything, etc. New format this year; all girls ages play over Thanksgiving.
Anyone have any good or bad experiences so far?

Fields are nice, competition is usually good, hate dealing with the housing and travel company...

A few Atlanta teams at Disney - Tophat, CF, AFC, SSA, AFU and UFA. No teams from Georgia in the Girls DA division. I know in the U14 brackets, there are a few ECNL teams also. Teams are all over the board with performance. I've seen a few coaches scouting from schools as far north as Boston U, but none from the west coast. Fields look good(grass), lots of intense games and even more intense parents. Easy to tell which games are DA/ECNL teams since that is where the scouts converge. All in all a good tourney so far, no real issues.

For us - good competition and tons of coaches present. Referees not as good as in past years - seemed inexperienced but there’s a shortage
Pricey but for competition, exposure and facilities- worth the money - for U14 and up. Ridiculous to have U11 and U12 teams there - thats just a money grab.

The college coaches tended to gravitate towards the U16s and above. They also tended to hang out at the DA games too. I did see a few at one U14 game but I then again didn't stay all day and watch many games below the U16s... Here are the results - events.gotsport.com/events/Default.aspx?eventid=60326

But on the other, I can honestly say I am glad both my kids attended at the younger age groups. My daughter went this year & had a wonderful time. My son went a few years ago, at a time when we thought it would be his first trip of many, but as it turned out, due to rules changes, team changes, etc.. he has not been back since, much to his disappointment! So, for what it's worth (& yes, it wasn't cheap) I am glad they went because you just don't know what the future holds.

Hey - sorry for the delay Coaches were mostly at U16 and above - we saw several at the older (seniors) age groups - mostly coaches coming to see their commits play but a few still looking to complete 2018 and 2019 recruits. I liked that it was changed to a Showcase format for older ages - that way Coaches were allowed to talk to those eligible (Juniors/Seniors). Depending on the level and game, the number of coaches I saw was between 6-8 (low end) to 15+ -that was when we were playing a very close game against an ECNL team - good competition.

We have been twice now. Competition is OK, but it is definitely an expensive proposition for a family to go over the thanksgiving weekend. Lots of Georgia teams in the finals across the lower age brackets (U13 and U14). This year the fields were NOT as good as last year. A couple of the 11v11 fields were in the outfield of the baseball fields, which made the fields short in length and width. A number of the fields by Day 2 and Day 3 that were located in the baseball fields were also in very bad shape.
