Thanks for the info - based on looking at the new girl's team added from the list (Ok Energy, Sporting Omaha, Utah Royals FC, and Arlington Soccer Assoc. - 4 new clubs - 3 of which have all age groups, and one with just U14 and U15) and then the total team count for 2018/19 it doesn't appear that any team was dropped from DA. Seems strange since we have heard otherwise in different threads. You can see the table toward the end of the link on the previous post.

As expected!
yea, the u15 agegroup should be interesting. The fallout is huge -- the nasa rising u15s now could replace the existing top rising ecnl u15 team with that entire team kicked to the curb for example. The reality of youth soccer!
again not sure what the benefit of just having u12 to u14 DA is. Well UFA and Concorde and obviously Atlanta United have the remainder of the spring to scout current SSA and NASA players for example. I would expect most of the top kids to tryout with UFA or Concorde for sure.
The last GA United teams were exactly that -- mostly a mix of UFA/SSA/Nasa with concorde kids thrown in there. UFA and Concorde wouldn't do it, but a partnered approach with the left out clubs for the 3 older age groups could be an excellent direction.

What about Concorde and the speculation about da vs ecnl? Anyone heard if this announcement means they got both da and ecnl?

There was no "subtraction" chart, so at least we know that CF still has the 18/19s.

What about Concorde and the speculation about da vs ecnl? Anyone heard if this announcement means they got both da and ecnl? No, as expected they requested DA. Whether they keep ECNL or not...its up to ECNL, DA doesn't care if they have both. I did hear that ECNL has been calling DA clubs that didnt have ECNL before but had applied and offered them ECNL if they dropped DA...a little too late now it seems?

"With the addition of Utah Royals FC, eight of nine NWSL clubs will be represented in the Academy. The addition of Toronto FC means that all 23 current MLS clubs are now part of the Development Academy"
is the NWSL holdout an ECNL club?

There was no "subtraction" chart, so at least we know that CF still has the 18/19s. I don't think you can conclude anything at this point. Well, other than USSDA is not very good at record keeping. Three GDA clubs are definitely gone, so those numbers in that chart seem unlikely to be correct. Two of them have forfeited their schedules for the rest of the year, one of those is openly lobbying for ECNL (FCKC), and another Virginia club had a press release announcing their departure from GDA. Clubs can and will do whatever they want between now and when schedules need to be set. Clubs were announced as GDA last year and then declined after the announcements. Anyone remember that?

Haven't confirmed on the GDA at UFA, but for the DA there will no longer be open tryouts. Like AU, it will only be by invitation only, especially for the older boys age group. I would start having your coaches, parents and players reach out to the leadership at UFA to make your case for early looks and invites to tryouts.

Two observations... First, I'm guessing the experiment by Toronto FC to not be a part of DA isn't yielding any tangible results since they've applied to join starting with the 2018/2019 season. I believe the thinking was, without the constraints of DA rules and restrictions, their boys academy would be free to develop at an organic pace and play whoever, whenever. Secondly, looks like all the rumors of a U13 GDA division where greatly exaggerated. So next season GDA will stay with U14, U15, U17, U19...

I know for sure the current U12s and rising U13s and older. Can't speak yet for the rising U12s, current U11s since there is usually no film on those boys yet. Should be a crazy, convoluted and at times interesting chess match watching the different pieces being moved from club to club. Sadly it will be our kids going through the emotional roller coaster.

There is a caveat in the article but think it’s a done deal:
U.S. Soccer and Development Academy staff will continue to review applications and markets for potential growth for the 2018-19 Academy season based on new developments and a continued analysis of clubs and their player development environments.

What do you all think about the invite-only system? Last year UFA invited a lot of kids to try out and wanted them to attend all three days. It left people scrambling for a team if they weren’t selected for DA.

[/quote] Looks like for UFA U15 DA they are Near the bottom and the U16/17 is right in the middle, both not making playoffs. They may want to open it up to include a lot more for tryouts considering there will be a lot more quality players from U14 coming from other clubs wanting to stay in DA.
