A friendly match indeed but these two teams show that they have entire rosters of world’s best players. This makes me feel that we, the US have a long way to go to produce an entire team of dominant players. What do we have three, four or five great players if that?
It ended up in a 1-1 tie but the movement of the ball was phenomenal. Every player despite playing on different club teams worked hand-in-hand like as if they were playing together all season long. I like how Germany and Spain played veterans as well as young players.

Iniesta’s pass for the goal was sublime.

I bet that Iniesta at age 12 would never make GA ODP because he’s not a flashy go get it fast striker kind of a player.
I’ll give you a perfect example here in GA. Jose Sanchez current U15 Atlanta United did not make ODP last year U14 2016/2017 (both tryouts didn’t make it) because he wasn’t as flashy as the other players (Mostly Strikers Made it) that did. Oh, his twin brother (Stricker) made ODP but didn’t play because his brother didn’t make it.

Iniesta is one of the most talented players in the history of the sport. The US (and 95% of the other countries on the planet) has never produced a player even close to his level of talent. And you're trying to tell me that if there was a 12 year old with that level of talent at an ODP tryout nobody would notice?

I’m not seriously trying to compare Iniesta to ODP players just trying to make the argument funny by comparing One of Spain’s greatest players style to what ODP and maybe the US Scouts problem is, overlooking young potential. Iniesta’s style is calm, cool and he does it so well it looks effortless and does not get noticed as incredible like Messi or Ronaldo. I for one appreciate Iniesta and has been the heart of Barcelona and Spain for years and I love his playing style.
Since I live in GA and my son plays here I am free to talk about my opinions about GA Soccer and ODP at least from what I’ve seen for the past the 3 years of tryouts and players selected.
Another player I know of (2004) did not get selected for ODP 2015/2016 probably because of his shyness or his calm playing style? This kid has great technique and can control the ball very well. Smart decisions on the field but in a 1.5 hour try out he could not show his skills or was just overlooked because he is from a small club? Who knows? The funny thing was this player went onto Classic 1 and got the golden boot for Fall and Spring. Oh wait, there is no golden boot for GA Soccer? OK, he scored the most goals and got to see it online. Although, ODP was for the more talented players right?
Ok, the post did get your attention didn’t it, sorry to offend anyone just venting. 😁
