Looks like Concorde strikes first and has posted on their site for tryouts:
USSDA - Development Academy TIMES AND LOCATIONS WILL BE POSTED AT A LATER DATE Training/Evaluation sessions for U14 (2004), U15 (2003), U16/U17 (2001/2002), U18/U19 (1999/2000) June 5, 6, 7, 2018
UFA has NOT posted for DA but is doing the same dates for U15 Select and the times are 4:30-6 PM. I’m guessing DA will be in the AM so that if you are not DA material go to the evening tryouts?
Please update if anyone knows something, PLEASE 😃

Let the AU internal tryouts begin. Sometime in April, the current boys at AU will have to begin an internal evaluation of their skills, to determine if they stay or not. So that means AU will have to let the current crop of boys know whether they have been retained or released and sign up or try out the new boys by the middle to end of May. This way, those on the outside looking in have options to go to either the UFA/CF tryouts. In the past, the DA tryouts have usually been in the AM part of the day (ex. 10am - Noon), that way it is a little cooler and it gives those unsure of making a DA team enough time to recuperate for the Academy/Select tryouts in the evening. I don't envy the current U14/2004 boys merging from 7 DA teams down to 3. And the impact it will also have on the current 4 ECNL boys teams. It is not going to be pretty. Wish everyone luck as the Tryout Season gets underway.

In a way I think AU doing things before everyone else is a bit nice. It allows those kids who aren't going to make the team time to reassess other options. In this way it is like the ECNL or DA ID camps which I think are valuable for the players. I am not a fan of the frantic way tryouts are done. So many clubs do not give much notice about who the coaches will be for the various teams, leaving the most important piece of information to be distributed by rumor until a week or less before tryouts.
Tryouts all at the same times (or near enough to the same time as to make it difficult to go to more than one place) does not allow the parents and the players to evaluate if the coach/club is a good fit and go elsewhere if not. Those kids scrambling on the last night to try somewhere else doesn't give enough time to evaluate anything. It is all about the clubs and not about the kids. A refrain we seem to say a lot.

When did they let the younger age group know last year?- the u13s and 14s didn’t find out until the week after their last game in late May

I think we found out for all age groups (academy through 1999's) 5 days before the academy tryouts. So late May (20 something).

So the kids at AU that are evaluated and deemed not a good fit aren’t given a chance to “tryout” again? Are tryouts even held to compare them to possible invited prospects?

Unfortunately, in the eyes of AU, if they do their scouting right, tryouts are a farce, a waste of time and not necessary. The last month or so before the end of the season is the tryout portion for the kids already at AU. A lot of factors go into whether they are retained or released. Are they playing well, are they developing or still at the same point as they were when they arrived in August? Are they coachable? Do you repeat the same mistakes and are unable to adapt? Can you handle the stress of playing at AU? Is your skill level going to be able to match up with your teammates? Are you a rule breaker or a trouble maker? Sometimes it's as simple as we've found one/two/three other boys from wherever that are just better than you? These have all been legitimate reasons given in the past year to some of the boys that have been released from AU.
Side note - I know many of us sometimes think the kids at AU have it easy or have it made, but it is at times like this that you are reminded how cut throat and damaging it can be to a young child's psyche and how high the stakes can be for a game they love so much. I know some players who were released who have chosen to quit soccer and others who have made it a year long mission to make it back to AU. We need not forget that AU isn't in business to coddle our kids but produce future first teamers and sometimes with that comes the unenviable job of crushing the hopes of young children.
