A lot of nuggets in this 2 minute oral from Pep you train for the whole squad.... you have to give passes and passes an extra pass an extra pass

I love this Beautiful Futbol that Pep is talking about! However, my son's team is still trying to grasp that and seem to rely on physical strength and speed too often. They do a lot of running and attacking without passing. The forwards and strikers are super fast and big for U14. Coach doesn't like our team to pass back, only forward to keep putting offensive pressure. This results in a lot of lost possessions. I'm sure it's our strong points in our team letting the Forwards/Strikers do their thing. It is very efficient at this age but in a year or two not so much if you can't retain the ball. Also, they still boot the ball from defenders to forwards. A lot of attacking and running without the midfield. We have a good defense/offense and that is a lot of the reasoning. Makes havoc for the weaker defensive teams. Not so much with AU/Concorde/UFA.
Got our butts handed to us by Atlanta United first game of the Spring 4-1 because we couldn't put together 3 passes in a row. You would think that we would learn passing is faster than running. ;-) Also, we had a Winter showcase that we should of learned from. Seems like players wanted to be the hero and impress the USSF scouts and AU Coaches. I would go with pass pass pass pass and then pass it into the goal. Passing creates trust and knowing there is always a way out. Can't do it if you only go forward to attack. I would think these kids learn more to posses and wait for the right moment to attack. At this age group, the teams seem to attack as soon as you can.

I don't care what people say about dollars spent. Pep is a genious and his teams play brilliant soccer. Congrats for conquering EPL while the "get stuck in" crowd looks on, dumbfounded.
