It appears this is a new trend. Several states have announced it and our region will likely be doing it soon. It will be interesting to see how it all unfolds. Youth soccer in the US would make a fascinating study for some sociologist!

US Club is either the best thing or the most damaging thing to youth soccer in the country.

US Club is either the best thing or the most damaging thing to youth soccer in the country. We will have to see how it plays out. I am wondering a bit about the timing of all of this. Last year we get girls DA and boys ECNL. Then this year several states (current number unknown) start to work with US Club soccer for regional (sometimes state only) leagues to supposedly minimize travel and improve organization and the "experience" for the parent and player. While the process is confusing, it will take time to see if the products (GDA,Boys ECNL, and SCCL) actually help the kids' development and satisfy the parents' desires for the best experience for their kids and hopefully best level of play for them. The expansion of NPL that has been referred to by others we know and a few on this forum also plays a big role in how will these players are matched with players of like ability and dedication.

I appreciate the travel aspect. These clubs have strong teams that can all challenge each other.
