Today at the next field a parent ran onto the pitch during a game and pushed the young center ref. No field marshals were around to intervene and the parent just left. Please remember proper sideline behavior and that these refs are somebody’s kids. SMH.

Yup, another young ref lost to ignorant parents who have no self control. If I were the DOC, I would ban him from the fields. In other situations that would be assault, if not child endangerment. Imagine if his mom or dad where also at the field, this could quickly have escalated, again over youth soccer where nothing other than pride is at stake.

If the coach of that team does nothing he is a POS.

Not that I condone that behavior...but today my daughter got taken out with a flagrant illegal tackle on a breakaway/scoring situation IN THE BOX. No red card, no PK. Free kick outside the box. Completely changed the course of the game which was scoreless at that point. They ended up losing.
I don't care if it's academy, rules are rules, apply them.

Having kids who ref, I now default to taking the side of the ref. Do refs make mistakes? Sure they do.
Does a 3-person crew have a better vantage point to see the game, the fouls and where they occur than the parents sitting in lawn chairs?
Yes they do.

My son was a ref at a u10 rec game. Parents and coaches were insane and kept screaming. At halftime one of the parents walked up to him and was trying to "give him advice", my husband told the dad to go back to his seat and not talk to him. (Btw, my son is 11)
While he was reffing his next game, during half time. A mom from that game handed him a card. The card had a hand written message thanking him for being a ref and it contained $10. I think they realized their behavior was a little out of control and he wasn't much older than their kids.

I hope the parents who know this individual reports them.

I don't know how it actually works but what I'd like to see is the ref submit a report back to GA Soccer and the teams involved called upon to cough up the offender or face sanctions of some type. Out of control parent is lucky he/she didn't end up under arrest, to be honest.

Out of control parent is lucky he/she didn't end up under arrest, to be honest. Hopefully there was someone present to advise this young referee on how to submit the report. Referee will need to get the name of the individual from the coach, which the coach should freely provide, and then the referee submits his/her side of the story. While I am sure the parent was frustrated, physically confronting the referee is absolutely inappropriate. We must remember these kids are trying. Just as we should not berate players for mistakes, we should not do this with officials either. This is especially true when they are kids. I agree with the sentiment above that the coach, and I would say the club, should act as well.

My 16 yr old refuses to work as a center ref, even the younger ages, because "parents and coaches are crazy".
It is really sad.

Not that it matters but how old was this ref? Second, I'm stunned that either coach didn't do anything. If I was a coach and saw a parent going on to the field, I would be meeting halfway across the field!!

UFA 06s DA played Lanier on Saturday.
Games were not very close, and you would have thought Lanier was playing for a world cup birth or national championship. Down 5-0, Lanier parents were still screaming like crazy at every single call the ref did or didn't make. Every time a player was touched, screaming foul. Yelling like crazy to give 11 year olds red cards etc. If a kid was standing in an offside position, screaming offside etc.
Truly was disgusting. Finally the coach said something to the parents, but they kept doing it, even when it was 6-0. I can't fathom what they would be like if the game was actually close.
