Per their FB page they claim to have a “record” number of 550 pre tryout campers.
A nice shot at those claiming CF is dying.

I think in GA we get a bit myopic--especially on the girls' side. With all the CF bashing (which always is at its highest pitch around tryouts), GA has something incredible between TH and CF. The competition is usually very good and they do very well nationally. Both have a handful of girls in the national team spotlight--I recall they were both in the top 5 in clubs w/ girls at that level. For U17 world cup this summer, both teams have 2 girls each going! (Think about it, 4 from the State of GA for 20 spots.) In DA in EACH division they are both in the top 3--no other team can say that. (TH gets the edge in the standings.) Last year at ECNL nationals, TH and CF 01 made it to the final 4--CF won the consolation game. Ask any college coach and they will tell you the CF and TH 01/02 are as good as any in the nation. From what I can tell, the CF/TH 03 and 04 are similar. Bottom line, BOTH should be very proud as in out town we have 2 of the top girls clubs in the USA and regardless of the naysayers, that won't change for the near future.

I agree the two clubs push each other. Ultimately this competition makes both clubs better. Knowing that there are 2 or 3 really good club options is good for the players of the clubs. I honestly don't understand why so many people hate other clubs. This is after all youth sports. The elite soccer world is a very small world. Often times the players end up playing on teams together at some point or another... Enjoy the ride!

Web site says 690 U8-13 and 376 U14-19 kids have registered for tryouts so far, and the online deadline isn't till May 31. No idea how that compares to past years or other clubs.

I like to evaluate clubs on whether they appear to be "growing" or "shrinking". We can objectively say that CF is shrinking based on the loss of coaches from North and South locations.
However the Concorde "core" (Central / Ashford-Dunwoody) is still alive and well.
Sometimes a shrinking club becomes healthier : it forces the club to focus on core values (quality of coaching, fields / locations, etc.). And it is easier to manage fewer locations / games etc. Sometimes a growing club becomes unhealthy : rapid growth creates internal problems with coaching, scheduling, administrative tasks, etc. Parents often feel their kids are numbers and the Club becomes a money machine.
CF ain't dead yet, but if this isn't a wake up call for GB and crew to fix whatever problems plague it at the moment it probably is signaling the end of an era.

I'm sure Concorde will be fine with numbers and quality at Academy through U13. Did the U12 Girls North and Central combine already this year, or do they still have separate groups? I thought I saw them in a couple tournaments as separate teams, but I'm not sure if they combined to play 11v11 U13 Athena. If all/most of them stay at CF (and don't follow MC to Tophat/Tophat Milton) that will be a very competitive U13 ECNL tryout. The big question is, how much will dropping GDA will affect the U14-U19 age groups. May see the top couple from each CF girls team migrate to TH - and if the others don't think they will be competitive at ECNL due to the loss of top players, they might migrate to UFA or maybe even TH ECNL or GSA or AFU. I still don't think CF will struggle with numbers, but curious if the quality of their top girls teams at the older age groups will drop off.

No the U12's CF north (black) did not combine with Central. They were separate. When they played 11v11 toward the end of the season, they asked some of the U11 girls to play with. Now the U12 CF Elite was playing 11v11 the entire season in the U13 Athena league.

Are the U12 Concorde North and Central girls combining as they will be rising to U13 this fall, and have the ECNL playing out of the Central location? If so, will they have a strong team out of the north location?

Looks like Concorde wants to try to encourage players to be placed into playing level for SCCL and not necessarily by location. Or they can't make up their mind and want to wait until after tryouts to declare which team will be SCCL? Anyone have more insight? www.concordefire.com/tryoutsFrom the Concorde WebPages Concorde Central SCCL When registering for SCCL, select Central as your tryout location Concorde Fire North Program (06/07 boys and girls will ALSO be assessed for SCCL level at this location) Concorde WEST Location 06 Boys and Girls listed SCCL

That North team has always been really strong. What about staying Concorde with SCCL? I think the issue is that the North team actually lives OTP North. So I think with the collapse of CF North, they are looking for other viable options (up North). A dedicated few might make the trek to Central, but most will try to land in the nearby area... Rush, Ambush, UFA, etc.

Not sure what sharing means exactly or how that works? 05 and 06 girls are the ages I heard. Is soccer tryout season always this crazy? So many changes this year!
