Think the last thing you would want is to cancel state cup altogether or decide winners based on kicks from the mark. Lakepoint would be ideal if available, but if not, multiple turf venues around metro atl. area would be better than not getting to play actual games. How many turf fields does Fowler have? Think sharon springs has 3, Lanier land has a couple. Hosting it in cumming may not be a bad option if ufa agrees. Or maybe alpharetta and Roswell. North park, kings ridge, Webb bridge, east Roswell park all have turf fields. Fowler has 4, sharon has 2, Lanierland I think has 2, Midway I think 2, Central also has 2 I think. Matt Park has 2 as well. Is that all of them? Lanierland has four turf fields but only two have goals up at the moment because the other two are being used for lacrosse.

While there are many many turf fields in metro Atlanta, they are all controlled by different entities who have different rules for use etc. Dealing with field rentals across many different managers in such a short amount of time is a hurculian task.
Kudos for Ga Soccer for trying and hats off to all those who can accommodate.

Maybe the goal is attainable, because GA Soccer seems to be planning well.

Meanwhile, some parents/players are packed and ready to head down to Columbus but instead are twiddling their thumbs waiting for a decision

The time to make the decision would have been by Wed. so people could cancel hotel rooms without having to pay. My guess is they did not start planning for the move until Wed. or yesterday.

All State Cup games will be played in the Metro Atlanta area. Your venue will be posted later is morning, with schedules to follow. We are working to finalize turf fields for everyone. The Committee understands all the issues associated with moving on such short notice, but in an effort to insure that games get played this weekend, this is the only option. Thank you for your understanding. Together we will make it work. Sharron

I'll say it - good job GA Soccer. I will second that. Great job ! I can't imagine the effort and coordination required to pull off a State Cup switcheroo !

In Cobb County, Mud Creek (3 fields) and Hubert (4 fields) were just turfed this spring and are ready to roll. Add in 3 at Franklin Gateway and the HS fields ( 2 each at Walton, Kell, Pope, Harrison, McEachern, Hillgrove, 3 at Lassiter), we could have a Cobb County State Cup. That would be awesome. If the State was smart they would not push the clubs out with the most to give. I can see Simon and Dave offering up cobb county for the State?
