What are the roster rules for regionals? Are guest players allowed?

Same as State, club passing.
Rosters are open again and kids can be added.

USYS needs to correct this. Rosters should be set by May 1 (if not before) for state/regionals/nationals. Set a maximum of 5 added players who didn't play in 65% of the season.
Otherwise... why not just pickup the best players from teams who didn't win state? Sounds like a mess.

You are allowed to add players from your club/guests - this is because Regionals are in summer and some players may have conflicts or their families may not want to participate. I know of two teams where players said they'd play State Cup but not Regionals so it's pretty common - usually it's adding players from the current club - younger or from a team that did not move on to Regionals.

Ok, so the discussed KSA/GA storm thing at state didnt happen? Or was that a last year thing? I figured that's what club passing meant.

To clarify -- only players club passed are allowed to attend, not guest players etc. But a guest player can be "transferred" to the new club, or is to late for that?
or a new kid gets added from tryouts next week, can they attend regionals with the team? (even if they played state cup with another team)

Ask soccerfan30 if the same rules are in place that disqualified the midgets from nationals 4 or 5 years ago.

I don't mean to imply that it did. I just know that it was some quirky nuance that I don't completely understand even to this day. My daughter played for that team.
I was wondering if that rule is still in place or if things have changed otherwise

Curious how it works for kids that played in the State Cup games but then go to another club post tryouts. Is it up to the coaches discretion whether or not to keep a kid on the roster who is switching clubs? Not sure a coach would want to keep a kid on the roster who is leaving the club...Seems like a team's roster could potentially really change between the State Cup and Regionals if a good number of kids from a team leave for another club. And it could go either way as far as making teams weaker or stronger (i.e. DA kids getting squeezed out out their teams and coming down to make the lower teams stronger). Any thoughts?

Wow way to negative. A team wins State Cup and the coach loses half his team to another club? Well that’s why you can club pass players up! Though as a coach I’d hold those players to playing in Regionals, they made a commitment and they need to follow through. They’d at least pay a players share of travel/coaches fees so any guest/club passes don’t have to come out of pocket to cover another team.

Can new kids who made the team at tryouts be added to the roster for Regionals?

Can new kids who made the team at tryouts be added to the roster for Regionals? Only if they didn’t play in State Cup, and their old club transfers them to the new club. Have to remember the Ga Soccer/Us Youth Soccer year is still August 1 to July 31 so players still belong to the old club through July.

so has to be both?
Didn't play in state cup for another team and club transfers them to the new club

Yep those players are still tied to that club until all 2017-2018 events are finished in July.
I guess the loophole here is players moving from US Club (ECNL & SCCL) to these teams could easily be added since they aren’t in the US Youth Soccer system. Not sure how DA works, but those players might be able to do the same too.

Not trying to be negative. Just wanted to know how it works as I'm a parent trying to understand things in this confusing landscape. Just because a team wins State Cup or gets a wild card slot doesn't mean there won't be roster turnover and it doesn't mean that a high percentage of roster turnover for that team is necessarily a negative.
