Less thorough coaches neglect this aspect of the game.

Now that's funny, but flopping is part of the game.

I haven't done the math myself. Someone else did and posted an addendum to the "45 minutes on the ground" stat. That's about 30 seconds for every foul. So, you may talk about his antics but he was clearly marked - took a lot of cheap knocks - and 30 seconds of antics per foul isn't bad.

- and 30 seconds of antics per foul isn't bad. yeah, we'll have to disagree on this part. Just imagine if a hockey player just sat on the ice for :30 after every hard check.. or a WR rolled around after every shot after a crossing pattern.
Nope. Quit the acting and play. Either a contact sport or not - can't have it both ways.

The stat that's been quoted is that Neymar has spent 15 total minutes on the floor this World Cup.

Crazy.
What’s crazy is I thought yesterday’s game was the best of the tourney. Brazil attacked and Belgium held on. Loved watching it. Glad Neymar hopped up more quickly yesterday.

The stat that's been quoted is that Neymar has spent 15 total minutes on the floor this World Cup. yep - typo. 45 would be absurd, lol. In regards to the hockey and/or football WR analogy... in those sports, when a player gets his bell rung, they're often taken off for a bit. Can't do that in soccer. There are also natural stoppages in those sports (like the huddle for instance) whereas not so much in soccer. And since I'm playing the role of Neymar apologist... Through group stage (couldn't find addt'l stats), he was: Top 5 in Chances created Top 5 in Dribble completed Top 5 (#1) in Shots All of the above while being targeted in every game whenever he was near the ball and while spending 15min on the ground ;-) www.sbnation.com/soccer/2018/7/6/17541844/neymar-injuries-fake-rolling-world-cup-brazil-belgium

Gamesmanship gives the game some flavor. Miggy and Barco do it just as much.

Gamesmanship gives the game some flavor. Miggy and Barco do it just as much. They don't roll 6 times over when they get fouled. It isn't that he complains. It is HOW he complains. I know it hurts to get your ankle kicked. I played. I know. But I didn't scream as much when I broke my back as he does with every little foul. He looks like a two year old or the wimpiest person in the history of the universe. If I played against him I would take him down just to laugh at the crying baby. He makes everyone that plays soccer look wimpy or conniving. Neither is good. And I don't care how good he is. I have lost respect for him as a PERSON, regardless of my respect for his skills (which I think are phenomenal). I also have no problem with the occasional whine after being fouled. Overall I say to Neymar SUCK IT UP, BUTTERCUP

I was equally as impressed with Marcelo. He made the game very exciting and was an attacking thorn for Belgium

The dude is a great player. When he joined PSG last season I started recording their games because the things they were doing when he was on the pitch was must see football. I thought PSG attack was even more fluid and creative than when Neymar played with Barcelona. But he will never live this down: Variations on the Neymar Challenge But I suppose he does not care. His bank account is fine. And he is a legend.

It will keep him from being a 'brand' like Messi or CR7. He's embarrassing himself instead of making kids want to be like him.
Kids won't want Neymar boots.. they'll want Neymar tumbling mats.
