I don't see anything AFU has that Top Hat would want especially now with their field issues. just MHO.

We can agree to disagree, but convince me otherwise...as there are still some good coaches and quality players at AFU. Having a larger player pool, access to more fields, and more coaching. Why wouldn't NASA TopHat not want to align/merge? Yet alone with any other club to combine now with how club mergers/alliances forming?

Top Hat gets fields that will be next to impossible to get to once the new business is built. Their other fields are county fields. AFU could lose those any time. Agree there are a few players left but the best have been leaving the past few seasons. Top Hat merged with NASA already. Don't see benefit of AFU and their sinking ship IMO.

With all the turnover and political infighting at AFU? No thank you

I have kids that have played at many clubs in Atlanta, AFU is no different than any of them. All clubs have problems, so please stop thinking your kool aid is better than the next.

Of course they do but AFU tends to have exponentially more than others, coaches run off, promises to staff the that aren't keep, internal strife among others. I'm not saying this as on outsider, I'm saying this because I have personal relationships with former and current AFU coaches and they've told me a multitude of things over the years.

Daddyo I think soccerfan30 is missing your point! soccerfan30 really? Concorde lately? The DA/ECNL secrets until the last minute, impending lawsuit, coaches leaving after they are promoted...blah, blah, blah. Or we could count the number of kids and coaches that purged from UFA this year? The number of TopHat coach changes and tryout screw ups with adding, then not adding...really? It happens at every single club. I get the rumor posting...that is part of what this forum is for. Post what you hear and let folks sort it out if it pertains to them. BUT, the wild speculations and comments that any club is void of the crazy is just posting to see yourself post. The AFU drama seems to revolve around one individual IMO but that's just my opinion.

Sounds more like gluttony. Vote with your feet if it’s that bad.

Unfortunately for the kid it was to late to catch on somewhere else. Kids not playing club after this year. Core group left this year before tryouts because of drama. They are at other top club teams.

Looks like they only lost the big open (rec?) Field on the left of the driveway.
The only people I ever saw out there were R/C flying enthusiasts. They will be the biggest losers in all this. Won't someone think of the R/C planes?

Also, we need a gossip thread per club.

They are resodding the shp fields. They definitely needed to replace the grass. It would of been nice if the county would of purchased the property next door and added two turf fields. Instead, they get a warehouse.
You have to commend Forsyth County officials for doing great things with their parks.

In regards to heretounderstand comment, I've been involved with the wonderful atmosphere of Youth soccer for so long, it really takes an incredibly outrageous event to surprise me today. We, as parents, need to realize that it's just a game and our kids are working hard and it's about all the great things that come with belonging to a team, no matter what the club name is on the jersey.

They do use the front fields for rec but also academy and select team camp. It also limits wear and tear on SHP not to mention the issue getting into SHP. That just became more difficult than it is now. Anyone whose played there knows it is difficult on the best day.

I must have misunderstood your response and see we are on the same page. There is always rumors and changes and, like you said, nothing surprises me. I am just so happy my kids love where they play and the people they play with/for. They have also loved various soccer camps around the region as well as ODP and getting to know so many kids from other clubs and states. You may have read another post of mine where I commented on all of the positive aspects of belonging to a team so I couldn't agree more.

No worries, you understood what I was saying. It's a long journey we are in, I wish it was more about the kids than the money the clubs are making, lies being told, truths being hidden and disrespect for the simple beautiful game.
We all have enough stories about youth soccer that a long night around a campfire wouldn't be enough time to scratch the surface. Enjoy those rides with your kids, it's one of the highlights of our lives.
and for the winner and champion concorde fire, if Richard Pryor was alive, he could write a life time worth of jokes/stories coming from that circus.
