The recent failure to advance at the US U20 World Cup and the large influx of out of the country stars in US Colleges indicates the US Dominance in women's soccer may be numbered. Hopefully this will be a wakeup call to US Soccer to improve the team selection AND coaches. The US tactics still leave a lot to be desired. Just go watch the games and you will see what I mean...

99% of college soccer looks even worse.

Perhaps look at the "development" program. It obviously is NOT working on either side. Time to evaluate it's lack of effectiveness IMO.

Hyperbole much? I am of course not happy with the outcome, but this is a gross exaggeration. Could development be better? Yes. Could coaching of this particular team have been better? Absolutely. This is where tactics are lacking. Could they have made some different player selections? Probably. You also know that our two best eligible players did not play in this U-20 tournament, right? Tierna Davidson and Mallory Pugh might have made a difference. Yes, they are both 1998 and were eligible for this tournament. That is sick to think about. Did any other national team leave their two best players at home (I know Pugh is injured, but she was not even considered). We have a nearly limitless depth of soccer talent on the women's side in the USA. But unfortunately what we have is April Henirichs as the Technical Director for Women's program. She does not come across as a person in whom you feel compelled to placed your confidence. Get someone else in that role and I bet dollars to donuts (as my pappy used to say) things will turn around on the women's youth side. You do know the U-15s just came though. That does not indicate a collapse. I don't know if you have gone to see any of the USWNT matches in person, but we have pretty much better players than everyone. Against Japan and Brasil in ToN the USWNT also tactically played exactly the way they should have in my humble opinion. Two different game plans for two different opponents. Those matches were not as close as the final scores.

Plus, eventually, the world will catch up as a whole. We need to continue to improve the women, but one bad tourney does not a program make.
