From Arkansas; my oldest daughter played for a local club, AR United, which played in the Red River Premier league, part of the NPL (not ECNL or DA). She's playing in college now, a local D1. Her club costs were approx $3,250 in total per fall. My youngest just transferred from Rush to AR United, costs approx $3,500 per fall.
I'm curious, how do some of the DA clubs get away with zero costs? Large donors?
We've (the parents) have turned soccer into a ridiculously overpriced machine.

Costs would have to be either subsidized by MLS club or subsidized by fees from other paying players of the club. I would be curious to see the “business model” around MLS youth academies. By my calculations it is upwards of $2 million a year to operate. Likely a lot more if residential. Is it similar to Ajax, etc. sales of future players? I believe most will operate at a significant loss.

Will generate age specific summaries if we ever get enough data ---

So far this is helpful information -- Will anything be done with this information --No, the plan is not to start a movement, but rather inform us as parents. We all discuss these numbers at the fields/facebook or on this forum, so it just made sense to centralize this info. So far besides some outliers, prices vary for sure, but just looking even at the above u13s, fees are fairly similar across the board. Still a very small sample size.
And you never know, maybe one club sees the summary and it leads them to follow up with another club asking how they were able to reduce fees for a particular age group.
Please lets at least get all the Georgia teams complete.
Thanks to those who have taken the time so far to complete the survey.

NCFC and NC Courage are cheaper because they are subsidized by everybody else in the club. The fees for classic, etc. are the same as the kids who are playing DA even though they get one fewer day of training, etc. Plus the kids beneath DA have to pay for uniforms, team fees and travel. My nephew is on an ECNL team there so I heard that the kids that came off of DA from last year to ECNL were not asked to pay for their uniforms but all the other players on the newly formed ECNL teams had to pay for their uniforms (including those who were on DA 2 years prior but did not get the same break after they were cycled off DA). No way in hell would my kid be on the same team and pay for their uniforms while others did not ** Edited to say unless a player had a financial need*** The players on the newly formed ECNL teams not paying for uniforms are NOT in need.

Penn Fusion -- running away with the travel costs.... Looks like their costs are including at least 1 parent traveling vs the others do not. Don't include parent travel when calculating these numbers.

As a first year u13 ECNL parent our organization did not prepare us for the costs involved and we might have made a different decision. Can you put together a survey like this for ECNL? This wold be helpful information for incoming ECNL parents and players that have NO IDEA what they are getting into and their club is NOT providing any information. Thanks.

Forgot to add the +/- of the "Gothia Cup" (spelling) for the U13s at AU. I mention because AU will not be footing the bill for this tournament, which is in Sweden in the summer month of July. If the team is willing to foot the bill then it will be with AU's blessings. Currently in the information gathering stage so not 100% sure if everyone is on board or if not enough players interested it would be scrapped.

I know that the Charlotte DA girls all get free cleats from Puma. They have 2 different styles to choose from and its required for them to wear them. I will assume its the same for the boys?

Did they attend last year?

Puma Future 18.1 and Puma One 18.1 I should hope. Those are Puma's main pro cleats.

It's completely ridiculous to me that anyone is paying this much for kids who aren't even in high school.

Did they attend last year? The parents behind this tried and tried but there was push back from the team. It is being driven by the personal agenda of one set of parents who think they are the unofficial TMs or better yet the social and soccer directors for the team. Problem is they can afford to pay for the team. I guess when you chirp and chirp enough, even TA agrees just to get you to shut up! An early unofficial vote looks like it won't occur, but then again, you know how peer pressure works in regards to parents. $1899 + Airfare per player.

Is this something that most players on that team can afford?

To answer your question, from what I know about the team parents and what they do, I think with some planning they mostly can afford it. But honestly, I don't think it is even about affordability but value. So you spend $1900 + airfare/miles to get over to Sweden. Would you send your kid alone or would mom and dad try to use the time to also make it a mini-vacation. Now the price goes up. Taking a wild guess, it will cost upwards of $3k for each kid and maybe $1500 per parent. That is $6k. All for 8 glorious days in Sweden. I just don't think it is worth it. They are talking about trying to do fundraising, but we all know how that goes.
