This is a no brainer to me. Im curious how it works on the ATLUTD bench wander practices with an interpreter.

It would never happen but the USMNT should hire Zidane and give him total control of the youth setup.

I agree but I believe Zidane is hoping José Mourinho is gone after this season, or hopefully midseason.

To be fair - if you're coaching the national team of a country, you should probably at least make a passing effort to learn the language of the country, no?
Imagine if somehow an American was tabbed to coach Paraguay or Venezuela (I know.. fantasy).. would they be cool with him speaking english only? doubt it.
Tata seems to understand english pretty well.. just probably not comfortable enough to respond. Watch the postgame interviews - he answers in spanish, but the questions are asked in english.

Yeah, and half of Tata's starting lineup are native spanish speakers, so that helps tremendously. Imagine if he wants to confer information to multiple players at once, there's going to be sone delay with the interpreter.
I'm guessing our native German Gressel understands English (or spanish) and can speak it.

I don't want this to devolve into a political discussion, but this is a shockingly unfortunate statement from the GM. Sure, the person can and should learn the official language (far from the only language). But a requirement of employment? In a cultural melting pot like the USA?

Its almost like they might even do something silly like make it requirement they have played or managed soccer.

I think you say I’m going to find the best person for the job regardless of what language they do or don’t speak - while it might be high on the priority list I wouldn’t dismiss a qualified candidate.
The reality is yes, it would be optimally for that individual to be fluent in English.

Any race/creed is welcome, but communication is crucial.

Plus being caught on camera last week saying "f*ck you" quite clearly and as the announcers said he obviously has learned some English!🤣 Personally having dealt with interpreters a lot in the past, lots gets lost in translation. I think having some basic English knowledge, but maybe not being super comfortable speaking it a lot but being willing to improve on it would be fine for USMNT. No English at all could be a problem though.

I like these responses
Edit: never mind the second one. I copy and paste Pranjic’s comment and a Lalas tweet appears.... I’m not supporting that.
Pranjic said “A world-wide search that might lead us back to the same circle of people choosing to work with the same circle of people.
Go figure.”
