Their field is a joke. My 14 year old plays on bigger fields. Luckily no one got hurt on the replacement turf. Players were sliding all over the place.

MLS minimum is 110 by 70, I'm 100% certainly it's not compliant.

I hate watching the crap games at Yankee stadium, that field is crap, the sight lines are crap and the width of the field is crap. It leads to crap play and crap soccer. Did I mention it was all crap.

Seems so much smaller than even the rumored size Looking at it tonight, the penalty area is 44 yards wide, the 10 yard corner hash mark was about 1 yard from the 18 yard box and then add 10 yards from the hash mark to the corner. That's 66 yards for the width of the field.

That's 66 yards for the width of the field. The 10 yard corner hash is actually 11 yards from the flag (1 yard corner arc plus 10 yards). I guesstimated 2 yards from the hash to the penalty area, making it 13 yards. 13 x 2 = 26 +44 = 70 yards - the league minimum. But yes, I use that estimation all the time...

The long delay offside call was irritating. Agree that the call was correct. Nice job by NYCFC for seeing that coming and planning for it.
I don’t know why the AR (who was 2 steps from Miggy in the corner) couldn’t make the call immediately. Was it really so close that it was better to let VAR sort it out? I hope they figure out a way to refine the VAR implementation in the future. Right now it’s messing with the flow of the game.
Kudos to AU for not pouting and continuing to attack.

So what was up with Villalba sub? Did he get hurt again, or was it just to limit his minutes?

Not sure. I wondered the same. The field seemed too small for him to utilize his breakaway speed. Hope he isn’t re-injured. Miggy too.

That field looks so bad on TV, and that stupid wire that is in the camera frame was so distracting - sometimes I'd confused with the sideline, and other times in was taking up the entire shot of the camera...

I think the most likely explanation is the AR blew the call entirely, not that he saw it but was unsure and let the play go on. In that case, it was only corrected because the VAR crew caught the error and instructed the center to review it on the sideline.

AR must have had a rectal-cranial inversion. Can't be any closer to the play and he's in the perfect position. Terrible.

One issue I had with the whole situation is with Atlanta's radio broadcast team. They seemed to have no idea what the call was. It was an easy official decision, made difficult by the AR not putting up his flag. With NY not placing someone on either post, it was incredibly easy to see Almiron move from the offside position to play the ball after passing it to Greisel.
Saying that, it would be VERY nice if somehow information related to the call was relayed to broadcasters from the officiating team. Maybe a sideline reporter can have a brief chat with the 4th and then relay that information so the crowd and viewers would know what is going on.
Ultimately, only the players and coaches really need to know. However it would be nice if the fans that pay for the players and coaches would also know what is going on.
Just one opinion.

Did I mention it was all crap. Looks like a great sized field for an Under-12 match, yet certainly not for a professional playoff match with so much riding on it. The only thing that can be said is both sides must play on the same field.
