You can't make this up.. you have to actually read the petition.
Apparently having a major sports championship is OPPRESSION of the hard working folks of rural Georgia!
Perhaps they can have their championship at, oh, any of the HUNDREDS of other appropriate venues around the state.
I've been to the championship.. they put like 1k people in the dome. Move it over to Georgia State or something.

"This decision was made without properly consulting the tax paying voters of the state."
Pretty sure an AU home game raises more tax revenue for a home game than every high school game in the state over a given season. Plus state/city pride vs some rural high school's pride.
Yeah, the dome is EMPTY for the GHSA title games, its sad. Georgia State at the old Turner Stadium is a much better venue for this.
Even better idea...just play it at the home stadium of the team with the better record. Gotta love the use of the word "oppression" in this context.

I think it is a joke. The comments definitely are. The way the person describes them self at the end of the petition makes me think it is tongue-in-cheek 😀

Ok. The misspelled, redneck comments are obviously jokes. They are hilarious. It would NOT surprise me if there were people who really did think the MLS game should be moved in favor of high school football though. Nor would it surprise me if they started a petition. People are crazy whiners these days.

Hahaha wow this is hilarious! But as I believe Colquitt County and Lowndes are expected to meet in the 7A finals I’m sure there’s a lot of whining about playing on a Tuesday/Wednesday.
But seriously what money hungry arse thought it was a good idea to move the games to Tuesday/Wednesday?? They’re High Schoolers so you know they’re expected to be in school actually learning. I mean I know they have to use every opportunity to sell tickets to that overpriced eye sore downtown but the games could have been moved to Fifth Third, Ga State, Bobby Dodd, heck even Suntrust hosted football a few weeks ago for KSU and played that weekend.

Two things: 1. This is the responsibility of the folks at GHSA, not the fault of the folks at the Benz. 2. You really think it is an “eye sore?” I think it is a pretty awesome structure. To each his own I guess.

They’re High Schoolers so you know they’re expected to be in school actually learning. High school football and ‘learning’ should not be used in the same post. They are by and large mutually exclusive.

It seriously looks like a death star, a bit of a monstrosity from the outside. That monstrosity is the most energy efficient stadium in the US, if not the world. There are 4000 solar panels on the Silver Deck, which one days energy is enough to power the entire stadium for a game.

All facts and smart features aside, it is a joke for any building that replaced a perfectly good twenty year old building to claim a sustainability award. I’d also like to see the solar power claim substantiated because I think that’s an impossible claim.

Solar panels are installed per MB website. Don't see any information to back up the energy they have actually produced. PR has a way of putting theost optimistic spin on these things knowing they won't be substantiated.
Don't know how STP got in the conversation. It is a nice facility.
Atlanta United looks awfully good thru 45 minutes.
As an all things Atlanta sports fan, I know there is still plenty of time to have our hearts wrenched out.

Take the tour for MBS, they mention a number of facts about the stadium. Also the solar use has been mentioned in a number of articles/publications

Trust but verify my friend. Tours and pr releases are great, but I would like to see what the engineers say about the energy produced and accountants say about anyoney savings.
Anyway. Go Atlanta United bring us home the cup!

Rather have a new MBS than the Braves needing a new stadium under the guise of "white flight" Turner Field was a disaster. Nothing to do before or after games except run the gauntlet of street vendors and scalpers and panhandlers. Stay tight kids, keep your head on a swivel, walk as a group of at least 4 or 5. Terrible ingress and egress for cars, no other way to get there. The Battery is now a destination. Atlanta could have developed the area around Turner long ago but lacks the foresight or ability to do anything meaningful.

I wonder how quickly AB’s investment will be paid off. Ticketmaster resale fees alone have got to be adding up. Then pile on concerts, full house sports... even HS football. Quite a bit of revenue coming.
