Worst kept secret ever. Now expect 10 more years of mediocrity.

This country has zero ability to think outside the box when it comes to soccer.
2 steps forward always followed by 3 steps backwards

Agreed. This is a boring and uninspiring hire. This is like typical hiring in huge corporations and universities. Did a worldwide search for the best person. Guess what? The best person in the entire world was in the next office!!!

Well Gregg's brother Jay Berhalter is the COO of US Soccer so I'm sure that helps. Honestly I'm tired of the retread MLS coach pipeline. Meanwhile Tata Martino will be coaching Mexico our main rival.

Do these guys not realize that we will be hosting a WC in less than 8 years. We are going to need every second of every minute of every hour to field a team that will have a legitimate chance of going far in that tournament. To think, most U12s and older will be about 20/21 then, so could conceivably be vying for a spot on the Nat'l Team. Talk about a system of scratching each other's back. Jay Berhalter was instrumental in getting the GM Ernie hired, now he repays the favor. Yaaaawn, Next!

The best person in the entire world was in the next office!!! Very typical though of all large institutions. Revolving door with people getting fired from one place and hired somewhere else as the next best thing. I am not sold on the hire. I have nothing against the man. One thing I do find in his favor is that he has done pretty well with a low payroll which implies he can get a lot out of mediocre players which we do need in the US.
