As of March 3, Robbie Hall is the new AFU president through 2019.

I heard rumors it was close to happening in the fall, but he pulled some shady stuff with the executive board to remain on.

This was long overdue and a step in the right direction for AFU. Within the club time after time, leadership has made wrong decisions and shady actions to make so many players and families leave. The same can be said about their relationships amongst other clubs and their reputation from the outside. All the best to AFU moving forward.

Regarding the board, of the 5 board members, 3 closer to him up were up for reelection but were voted out in the fall. So he created 3 new spots on the board (within the presidents powers) and reappointed them. So yeah, pretty sketchy.
But he stepped down, which was the right way to do it.

Guess the whole field fiasco this past summer along with the land deal finally caught up with him. Good riddance, at least now the SCCL board don't have to hide their meeting locations any longer for fear he'd invite himself...FG

They may rethink adding AFU now, but what I do know is they are more keen on adding more out of town/state clubs before looking to those within Metro Atlanta. So when it's all said n done, it may all be a moot point when it comes to AFU...FG

I believe he told the AFU board he walked away from SCCL talks, I'm more inclined to believe he was told to leave. No idea on the future though. Obviously they were not in the discussion thus far.

About time maybe now Atlanta Fire will stop pulling down their ECNL to guest in national league and Athena A games. That was rediculous the last few years. Good luck to them and hopefully a more honest culture moving forward.

Not doubting its been done (playing down), but some teams have dual-rostered players, who are on the lower team but play up with the ECNL's when possible/called up.

I think part of the misconception (again, I'm sure there have been play-downs) is that they're somewhat opportunistic with the patches. They give them to some players they identify as likely pull-ups but who aren't necessarily ever called up for a game. For the most part they don't have different uniforms for the 2 levels (like AU and AU2 do).
But I'm definitely in the camp of an ECNL player should never take the place of another rostered player for a tournament/ state cup/etc.

Are UFA Norcross and AFU right on top of each other? Will this change at AFU be the death of UFA Norcross?

I know players on ECNL at AFU who were not ever officially dual rostered. They were just asked to play with the lower level team and these were full ECNL players, never even training with the second team. Also the previous year when they did dual roster them, they actually dual rostered their BEST ECNL players, not the bubble players. This was done PURELY to win games. I am not saying other clubs don't do this because I can't speak for all clubs. I just know that my kids' teams have never done it and no one at our club promotes the idea. In fact they discourage it.

Seems AFU philosophy is to win at all cost, while putting development on the side. With Hoover now out, new leadership need to change philosophy, environment, and atmosphere while eliminating as much politics as possible from within.

Yeah, 4 (3 have the patches). All played on the A team in every A game in the fall and none traveled with the ECNL's. 2 havent played in an ECNL game. All are different situations but were rostered with ECNL to be available if called up.
From what I've been told, with the CF North dissolution/dropping DA, apparently several 04 CF girls moved to AFU 04 ECNL team. I think that team has around 25 players, and the most you can roster for an ECNL game is 18. But I dont know if any of those girls played down with the 2nd team.
I don't think the 03 2nd team carried but 13 girls in the fall. I dont know if any of the ECNL's played down with them. In reality though, all of the AFU girls 2nd teams struggled in the fall. Only the 05's were solid, finishing 5th in Piedmont.

Only the 05's were solid, finishing 5th in Piedmont. Every game I saw this team play had at least 2 ECNL players on it. League games, tournaments.. all of it. Last year was the same.
Clubs are supposed to be DEVELOPING players. You have an injury and need a sub, pull from the next team DOWN.. who is supposed to be developing players to move up to your team anyway. Pulling players down from higher teams is bush league garbage. The kids on that team are getting wins they don't deserve and losing playing time to players who are already on a higher team. It's a lose-lose for everyone on that team, but the club gets to say 'look how good our second team is'.

So just to clarify. You are saying AFU's 05 Elite team had at minimum 2- 05 ECNL players playing down in their games?

I wouldn't expect the market to change. Why would you not expect the market to change? It seems that UFA Norcross hate being there because of being treated like second class citizens. There should be a rush on AFU if leadership was a problem and now leadership has changed. Why would you want to play at UFA Norcross when Atlanta Fire is right there with a better program?

Some hyperbole there. But parts of it are arguable. AFU has a ways to go.

There should be a rush on AFU if leadership was a problem and now leadership has changed. Why would you want to play at UFA Norcross when Atlanta Fire is right there with a better program? Who was it that said "the rumors of my death are greatly exaggerated?".. I think that applies to UFA and specifically Norcross. I'm sorry, i'm not truly understanding the correlation between an insignificant leader being dismissed/quitting and that opening up the floodgates and the migration from Norcross to AFU? The feeling of being treated like second class citizens is more of a sibling rivalry as opposed to an all out Hatfield's and McCoy's war. I also think an argument could be made for your statement about AFU being a better program. So AFU has ECNL, what else? UFA has DA/NPL/SCCL better fields, better resources and collective a better coaching stable than AFU. I will venture to say that most people don't know who Vacuum was and honestly don't care that he's no longer in charge. If folks were going to leave Norcross, they would have done it by now or will do it in the future. I will give you that historically, Norcross has lost some girls to AFU because of its proximity and ECNL, but that tide has been stemmed with the SCCL and I highly doubt they are losing any boys to AFU...FG

As far as their 05 team they appear to be in 5th ahead of all of the Florida teams (except Florida Elite) as well as TH at this point. They've also given up the third lowest amount of goals, are 1 of 5 teams with + goal differential and played 4 out of their 10 games at home. Not sure what you bone is with their specific team but keep in mind you are bashing 13 year old girls. But that was your point anyway right? As far as all AFU ECNL teams go they are currently:
13's-4th 14's-5th 15's-3rd 16's-9th 17's-8th 19's-5th
Not world beater by any means but appears they are doing something right at the younger age groups in particular.

I have sat here and viewed these threads all day anf i must say , the ignorance is breathtaking .
#1. Dogging 12-13 year olds ? Childish . #2. EVERY game they had at least 2 ECNL players ? Flat out lie. A couple games they guested 2 because of kids missing. Period . They NEVER had 5 ecnl kids in ANY game this year . They used several in one game at U13 because the team they were playing brought 5 ecnl kids . Get your facts straight . #3. The #1 way to judge Hoover is ask ANY of those 05 Elite girls who were told yesterday Hoover was no longer their coach how THEY feel . 95% of the kids he’s coached love Hoover. There are always a few with any team who don’t like the coach but that’s any coach . Think about those kids for a minute instead of bashing AFU. #4. AFU only tries to win and not develop? There are a couple clubs who win all the time and a lot of what they do is try to grab the best players from other clubs . Is that development ? No. That is taking great players from other clubs and tossing them your club’s uniform to wear . Some of you can be self delusional if you want but ALL the big clubs at the Select ages are trying to win.

Lots of bashing here by people unfamiliar with the true situation. But it makes for good theater for those "in the know" to give their "expertise" on everything soccer related. If adults spent this much energy working on their personal lives, and less time gossiping about things not understood, we'd all be better off.
