Didnt their top level USL team merge with DC United as their 2nd level? So this is essentially an MLS club?

Bottom line. Regular clubs can’t compete with this - (Except for Ajax yesterday!!!)
Prior to Ajax’s visit to Real Madrid, Marc Overmars laid out in no uncertain terms the task facing his club:
“Our wage budget for the 1st, 2nd and youth team is 28 million. That's as much as Gareth Bale earns in a year. What Real Madrid pays for one player is used for our entire squad.”
Taking the 05s across the country

Funny thing about Ajax talking about how financially disadvantaged they are is that, in the Netherlands, they're the big spenders no one can keep up with. They're the ones who poach all the other clubs' top youth talent. There's levels to all of this.

When MLS pulls out, DA is done IMO. Look at the non-MLS/pro clubs in the Nexen Manchester City Cup above. Look at the number of non-MLS club players invited to the u14 YNT camp listed on another thread. Will it look different? No doubt. But I don't think it'll be done.
