Not to get off topic but in response, every player especially the DA/ECNL type of player need time OFF more than anyone else. I would say three to four weeks at least. Otherwise they are risking mental and physical fatigue and even injury. We often detect similar fatigue in professional players at the World Cup in summer. Their teams are smart enough to give them time off after their WC, in late July during early preseason depending how far their country has gone in the WC finals. So if players are in the Nationals whether ECNL or USYS mid July, it should be a no brainer to completely rest till mid August (before getting into specific preseason conditioning programs), if they want to last another year healthy and in high performance levels. I agree. This is part of the trouble. If you want to do soccer nationals and camps and still rest, how is that possible?

I don't see why these playoffs can't start Memorial Day and finish by mid June. Even end of June would give us the whole month of July off. And to be honest, more soccer camps are the last thing on my list of things to do in that limited time off. They need a real break and we need family time that does not revolve around soccer for a change. Also agree that having tryouts in the midst of all that definitely throws a wrench in things.

Agree about the time off. After Fall season, Disney, Fall make up games, winter tournaments and start of Spring SCCL season, these last two weeks away from soccer has been good for the kids and good for me as a parent. My son barely touched a soccer ball during the two weeks off and I was good with that.
Kids were a little sloppy in practice last night but the time to recharge was well worth it. I'm going to have to get back into DUBER (Dad Uber) shape as well. It was nice to be home every night of the week for a change.
