Tradition would dictate that CT would keep the 02 SCCL team for one more year until they graduate. No idea on the other.

Rare poster here: Does anyone know when coaching assignments will be made / communicated for TH? I know a lot of focus is on ECNL on these boards however I'm looking Specifically for 02 Girls SCCL or White. The website does not appear to be updated so if I someone can point me in another direction, I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance Team coaches for the next year are not usually announced until a week or two before tryouts. Tryouts for 02s are not until early June. You have a while to go yet...

Thanks for this - In the past others have handled the details so I'm playing catchup. Single Dad now and admittedly have not live/breathed soccer as I've let my kids do what they love. Now, my daughter has progressed to the point that she wants to play (and should) at a higher competitive level. She's actually gotten some college inquiries at recent HS game. Are the teams like SCCL already set or will she get a fair look at tryouts? Should I email coach just to introduce and let them know she's interested - give him HS coach info etc or is that a no/no and just let the cards fall where they may? Glad to hear she got some inquires! and at a HS game no less. Many posters on here state that the scouts don't come to HS games. Did you do anything to draw them to the game?

Typically the coaching assignments are posted a few weeks before tryouts. I think the NTH coaches do a good job at giving everyone a fair shot, we always have many girls from outside NTH trying out so the process is competitive. I believe most coaches want the best players possibly and aren't going to turn someone they feel can help their team just because they aren't from NTH.

And not just you, but your other coaching contacts - what's the general consensus?

If your kid shines at tryouts (stands out from the pack, especially of existing players), they will definitely get a look. Coaches aren't dumb, except the ones that are.

I always answer questions honestly with no spin or club bias, ultimately I tell parents to find a club that fits their level of commitment and expectations. Find a club that has long term sustainability with multiple teams at every age group. Surround yourself with players of equal or better ability, if you are far and away the best player on your team its probably time for a new challenge. Look for a club with a proven track record in developing players and lastly do your homework on potential coaches. The biggest question I always get is "what is the NTH culture like?" or "what's their magic formula for success?" There isnt a magic formula as we know but I try to answer their questions as best as I can. I think the above holds true for most coaches irrespective of where they coach....although many will bash other clubs to elevate theirs.

But I was asking more about a possible move. Say a player wants to move to a club (for the sake of the question, it's to play for your team) and they are asking about getting a look. Are you open to the prospect of allowing the player a trial and in your experience, are most coaches open to that if a player would like to possibly play for them?

The answer would be yes but it has to be within the proper guidelines and timeframe set aside by GA Soccer, most clubs offer an open house camp the week before tryouts to see and meet coaches and to ask questions. If the player is interested in DA/ECNL they are not held to the same contact/recruiting rules as teams within the GA Soccer umbrella.

I would assume that coaches get enough interest contacts that they will likely not remember that much about it until they see a player live.
