From what I have heard, it will be up to the USL clubs whether or not the kids can play in HS, so it may be the best of both worlds for boys that want high level college/pro but also want to play in HS.

So it's just for U13s (2007s) and U17s (2003s). So what, they play USL Academy U13, DA or ECNL U14-U16 then back to USL Academy for U17s and back to DA or ECNL at U18s? Weird. Seems like a nightmare. Especially for clubs with DA or ECNL that aren't affliated with a USL club. Which is almost all except for Tampa Bay and Atlanta United and, I guess, Inter Miami. www.uslsoccer.com/news_article/show/1004181

For fall 2019/Spring 2020 there will be friendlies amongst the USL clubs where academies already exist. For 07/08s and 03/04s there will be a national tournament in May 2020. There will be a regional play-in for the 03/04 group. Starting Fall 2020 the full blown U13-U19 league will start.

We've got a new USL team here in our area (Chattanooga) and they're starting their academy up this fall. Not sure how all of this will go down and there's quite a bit of drama over it all. Anywhoo, if the region is set up like most others, there are only 7-8 USL teams/potential academies in the Southeast region and they are pretty spread apart. The cost may be prohibitive unless the academies help support their teams. It'll be interesting..

Ah, I wasn't even thinking about USL2 teams in the bunch. That make a huge difference. Thanks!
