It's skewed a little - the top four are small clubs with fewer teams. Any way to weight this out?

Sorry I didn't make this clear. This is ONLY select. Academy scores aren't recorded anywhere accurately to have any meaning, plus with pooling it may skew it anyway. I'm talking about U9-U12 Academy, not DA. Anyway, only select. My original purpose of doing it was to see if the traditional "So and so has the worst home cooking!" was true. In the end, there are lots of variables, like zizou says. But aside from travel I doubt many of the others have much to do with it. I personally do believe refs bias could play a role in some of these cases. As to separating by boys and girls, I might be able to do that. I don't think I would try to separate by facility... presenting the data might be tough. I'll think about it though. No biggie - just the uber geek in me wondering about gender and knowing about certain horrific fields with more divots and ditches than not. Hard to pass a ball at Polo fields when it's getting hung up in a hole - that would definitely affect scoring potential.

Interesting - last Spring we had a game rained out and never got the time/weather to reschedule. It went in as a 0-0 tie with both clubs getting the two points. I had expected a DNP and no points. Granted, both clubs were safely in the middle of the herd with no danger of moving down and no prayer of moving up so it was a wash but what would happen if one or both of the teams needing the make up game were on the bubble to move up or down and a five point win would make the difference? Seems in that situation, you'd have to play the game.

I like the idea of separating out Academy and Select. How about separating Boys and Girls - I'd be interested to see if there's a gender gap as well.
Is the purpose of this data to see if some parental accusations about club favoritism with referees holds water or just data analysis? Another interesting point would be to notate the 'home field' in the data - example - UFA Polo Fields suck - but their turf facility is awesome. SSA's fields run from God Awful to Not so bad - makes me wonder if the scoring differential has anything to do with the facilities.
Just a geeky curious soccer parent . . . .

The parents weren't yelling any more than normal. I thought the crowd was fairly tame. The game was very physical and his foul calls were very inconsistent. It was so bad that at one point he called a foul (that seemed obvious to all of us) and our player had to ask him who it was on. It would have been nice to have someone experienced there watching. I understand that Academy doesn't "count" officially. But to the kids it counts. I was simply asking a question. Sorry if I offended. Not offended at all One thing you can do is find another ref or at tournaments the ref coordinator and request the young ref be watched. We had a young ref replaced at a tournament for not calling fouls because the players were going to get hurt. He was too inexperienced to be center and was replaced at the half Player safety trumps everything but you can take official measures by having the ref monitored

Oops. Sorry. Non soccer world interfered with my life here.
I'll take the loss and cough up the details (and video) next time.

Up through Academy, a ref can be as young as 13 and be center ref although typically clubs try to have an adult at center. There's a shortage of referees so the younger ages tend to get the younger less experienced refs.
However all refs have to take the certification so they are knowledgeable and human Even the more experienced referees will miss a call or offsides. Give the younger ones a break - Academy really doesn't "count" - meaning you aren't vying for a RPL spot or State Cup Title. Don't be the psycho parent who yells at the young refs. (Because that could be my kid out there. It's a great first job for teens)

Club exists. Age group does not. Perils of a small club - lesson learned Bummer. Did everyone go to the same place, or did they scatter all over? Scattered all over - very sad actually - it was a great group of kids and parents but its also the age where some kids develop other interests or school gets harder. Still think the club could have tried harder to salvage the age group. We still miss our coach and group

With 2-4 possible RPL spots made from the Athena A/Claasic I group, do teams still drop down a level or stay and bring up fewer teams from the bracket below ?

Technically two but if the team/club implodes, does it count against us? I'd say yes, unless the club ceases to exist. Club exists. Age group does not. Perils of a small club - lesson learned

We do the NSA Nike Cup (of course since we're the host club) and this year both of my girls are doing the CESA Tournament in Greenville, SC the week before Thanksgiving. CESA Fall Challenge We've never been to the tournament up there but my oldest played there before as an exhibition. The MESA field is enormous and outstanding. They even have free Wi-Fi at the fields! It's up to u14 for boys and girls. We did the Challenger Cup last year and it's a small but well run tourney. CESA's facilities are amazing and the teams up there are formidable!

The game is the best teacher so playing time on a developing team trumps bench warming on an elite one in my humble opinion

Roswell - the city - has a reputation for some of the best parks in the country. Roswell - the soccer club - reaps the benefits of Grimes Bridge and the soon to be newly turfed Upper and Lower Waller. Sweetapple is pretty 'sweet', too - mostly for smaller sided games but lush green grass everywhere.
Roswell - the city - will turn those turf fields into Lacrosse fields when Roswell - the soccer club - eventually folds. Sad because RSC used to be a pretty good place for kids to play and develop. I hope Roswell - the city - will realize that they need to let Roswell - the soccer club - operate as a club not an afterthought of the Parks and Rec department. I can say the same for Cherokee, too - they have a gorgeous complex up there but the club isn't developing or growing as a soccer force in the area.

How to get the traffic to switch to this forum? Obviously some messages in the old forum will help, but it should be done respectfully and only periodically. I like the idea of posting good content here and then posting a link to this forum as if it were just another external resource. define 'periodically' because I see several posts on the other forum with this link and it's only feeding the idiocy there. Just chill - you built it -= they will come.

Really depends on the levels of the team: TYSA and Challenger are pretty small and don't draw the top level teams so if you have a third/fourth tier team, those are competitive.
GSA is a college showcase - heavier at the older ages but still pretty good at Academy level NIKE - pretty deep - multiple flights in each age group. UFA and SSA are sketchy - quick to cancel or not as good a draw - plus they both have a thousand teams so it ends up being those clubs teams playing each other or set up to breeze through to a final.
Athens has a small tournament after GSA and NIKE so that's an option, too.
