Rifle …but don’t you go defending the insanity of club soccer. I’ll have to call you out. [/quote]

And you can rest assured the day I defend the insanity you will be the first I call for a salty wake up call!

Surprise. It’s cold outside in winter. Get your kid a long sleeve shirt and/or some runner’s gloves. Maybe some tights. Lack of club branded cold weather gear IN GEORGIA does nothing to disprove club soccer propensity to separate dollars from willing suckers. I assure you my kid has cold weather gear. Irony or wit and attempts at humor lost in translation I guess. Gave me something to chuckle about while awaiting the early game on an otherwise lack luster and lacking new content forum. Thank you for pointing out the errors in my logic. You have been validated in your convictions.

So the general opinion amongst forum parents is that clubs are in it for the money.
I can disprove this theory.
If clubs were truly looking for extra money they would require winter uniforms in addition to winter tournaments.
Think about it …
How many games and tournaments do we play in Atlanta in November December January and February (that’s easily 40% of a 10 month Aug-May season)
How many of those Nov-Feb games do we put players in the absolute thinnest hot weather performance wicking apparel?
ALL OF THEM
Now most clubs sell some optional base layers and of course there is the required “warm-ups”. Which is basically a wind protection layer.
Most parents invest in thermal base layers. Others are lucky if the kid grabs a hoody on the way out of the car! (I’m looking at you middle school boys)
It’s January. It’s 23 degrees outside. It’s turf fields. It’s cold.
Players are “warming up” wearing blankets, miss matches hoodies, flannel pajama bottoms, stuffing hand warmers into creases and crevices. LOL
And in 22 minutes they will play their hearts out either woefully underdressed for the weather or warm with layers but likely feeling like a Christmas Story Ralphie style Michelin Tire Snowman lumbering down the field. LOL
What I wouldn’t give for a decent cold weather athletic performance long pant and long sleeve shirt winter uniform.
Yup I’d even let the club sell it to me and line the pockets of the uniform kick-back club recipients.
As for me. I’m the one in my battery operated heated vest sitting on my battery operated heated chair pad in front of my mini propane heater.
Good Luck out there!

Kid loves the playmaker. Enjoys seeing the metrics on work rate and power and distribution and velocity and touches and possession and distance and sprints.
Kid is a STEM nerd.
Kid also “needs” external motivators and this is a nice external motivator than provides self motivation and self drive for improvement
I’ve only ever looked at the stats recently when an injury reoccurred to see if when I was told “I’m already really I can play through it” and used the data to help determine if performance was indeed close to pre injury levels or not.
Although not intended for improvement of soccer skills I feel like the soccer skills have improved simply because of awareness of certain measurable data points that player choose on their own to make a priority.

More Games
Lower level teams like say SCCL Club don’t have the benefit of full robust schedule of league games. Development of players certainly can happen in training but development at game speed in game scenarios is a MUST for players AND teams to develop their skills. Don’t like watching lower level teams play long ball and kick and run? They need meaningful competitive games to practice those skills? A showcase takes the “pressure” off the win or lose to advance off the team (PARENTS players and coach)
More Competition
Local tournaments are often played by the same teams in the same brackets repeatedly each year. Showcases for lower teams provide new teams to play across the region and beyond. Even at the dreaded Disney we have never played a team from GA or a team in our league.
Feedback
For example the NC Showcase had a players combine the day before which gave players the opportunity to work directly with college coaches. My “too young to recruit” “lower level team” player enjoyed the opportunity to play at the higher levels with high performing players and receive coaching AND feedback on their performance.
Practice
The Showcases provided an opportunity for players on the team to gather game film at a “younger age too young to recruit” age to practice and prepare for when they NEED the film. Also practice building online profiles and practice reaching out to coaches.
Research
If your “lower level” too young to recruit player IS thinking about playing in college NOT at the SEC Division 1 top ten full ride scholarship level … They might benefit from learning about the different lower level Div 1 or gasp Div 2 or shock Div 3 or dare I say an NAIA schools that are out there. Looking at a list of coaches from all over the Divisions and Conferences is great research into the myriad of types of OTHER college soccer available
Travel Experiences
Lastly there are some parents and players who actually enjoy traveling out of town with their teammates to spend time at team dinners and enjoy a few hours off the field together. Our team enjoyed BBQ picnic and an impromptu game of kickball on a playground field. Was it soccer? No. Was it teamwork, relaxing, enjoyable and just plain fun? Heck yeah!
Anyway that’s my why I think Showcases are a great addition to a lower level teams season.
See you on the sidelines and if we are lucky maybe even a showcase LOL

My daughter attends Innovation Academy in Fulton. They do not have sports and kids are not allowed to play for their regular home zoned high school if they attend IA. Are there any spring play options available for her? Could a private school pick her up and I play them a fee? Looking for any options. If she is u15 (2007) some clubs have a spring gap year league If she is U16 (2006) or older why not play spring rec? (Here me out …) In high school they are playing multiple age groups so why not play in a rec league at an age group or two up and get the experience of older age game play and develop skills, leadership, and since most on this forum agree high school is about playing on a team “with your friends” I suggest that the spring rec teams are going to generally have players at that age who certainly still love the game if they are still playing in high school. And since you mentioned paying … maybe even add a paid trainer to do a team clinic or two for the team?! Actually the more I talk about this … let me know who else wants in on this LOL Sounds like fun LOL

Has anyone been able to get an answer from their coach or club as to the reasoning for playing one team twice on the schedule? Just curious. (I mean we are all grateful for whatever extra games we can get right?) My guess is that they were trying to get every team to a certain minimum number of games- say, 10- and if a division only had 10 teams, they could only do that by having each team play one opponent twice. Look at it like this: Team 1 plays Teams 2-10 then plays Team 2 again Team 2 plays Teams 1 & 3-10 then plays Team 1 again Team 3 plays Teams 1-2 & 4-10 then plays Team 4 again Team 4 plays Teams 1-3 & 5-10 then plays Team 3 again Team 5 plays Teams 1-4 & 6-10 then plays Team 6 again Team 6 plays Teams 1-5 & 7-10 then plays Team 5 again Team 7 plays Teams 1-6 & 8-10 then plays Team 8 again Team 8 plays Teams 1-7 & 9-10 then plays Team 7 again Team 9 plays Teams 1-8 & 10 then plays Team 10 again Team 10 plays Teams 1-9 then plays Team 9 again Actually works out pretty well, though teams that get a tougher team twice obviously have a worse draw than teams that get an easy opponent twice. No other way to really do it though. Logical yes but why only 9 games instead of 8? Such a random number to decide on.

I believe Triangle United went DPL too. Honestly SAPL/NPL should have been an adjunct league like it was years ago. They just kept adding and losing clubs left and right. It was an inconsistent mess Frankly SCCL Club should be an adjunct league by that definition “adding and losing club level teams left and right and an inconsistent mess” Absolutely DISAPPOINTED in every single club who is treating SCCL Club level like repository for teams that “we have no other high level league to place you in at our club” And another thing let’s space these games out just inconveniently enough on dates so that teams have no other tournament options available to fill in and supplemental games oh and friendlies? Sure how everyone else at the appropriate competition level has FULL SCHEDULES and SHOWCASES they don’t have time or inclination to schedule friendlies And y’all who know me know ME and know I drank ALL the SCCL Koolaid

…Now let’s get back to complaining about lack of soccer schedules, age mandates and newly created new leagues with all the same teams playing each other over and over again, and the lack of quality referees because we drive all the good ones away. LOL Wait, don’t forget about bashing and spreading unfounded rumors regarding Tophat and Concorde. …oh, and why we’re doing soccer wrong in the US. 😉 I was saving the Tophat Concorde Rumors for when I needed a really really big distraction… call me sometime I’ll let you know what I know 😂

More likely they won't schedule All-In. All in is suspected in removing AFU rec signs from in and around George Pierce Park. Plus there's likely some bad blood between leadership. Burning bridges and all that. I never in a million years thought I would see the AFU/All-In sign drama come to the forum LOL All the signs come down by George Pierce Park and every other side of the road in Gwinnett County. (Including the Rhodes Jordan and EE Robinson parks) They are illegally posted signs. Doesn’t matter if it’s a soccer sign, a Girl Scout cookie sign, a karate studio, we buy houses, hunks for junk, gotsingles, earn cash from home, the CBD paradise shop, Tree removal, pressure washing and free mulch … they are all illegally posted and will all be removed from city of Suwanee, city of sugar hill, city of Buford, city of Lawrenceville, city of Snellville, city of Duluth, county of Gwinnett properties ..: ALL OF THE SIGNS WILL BE TAKEN DOWN! This has been explained to all the powers that be at both AFU and All-In and also to the Girls Scouts, the Karate Studio, the we buy houses people, the CBD oil shop and on and on and on … This message brought to you by Clean and Beautiful Gwinnett and Come Clean Gwinnett (Which by the way also removed almost 1000 of these signs and THOUSANDS OF BAGS of trash all around Gwinnett … Thank you beautiful people for keeping our streets and parks and green spaces Clean and Beautiful … check out their Facebook pages … Or read the sign ordinances … there is NO soccer sign conspiracy happening in this part of town LOL. Just a lot of crazy soccer parents who blamed the trash warriors … www.gwinnettcounty.com/static/departments/planning/pdf/signordinance.pdfNow let’s get back to complaining about lack of soccer schedules, age mandates and newly created new leagues with all the same teams playing each other over and over again, and the lack of quality referees because we drive all the good ones away. I think the plan is for the second team is going to be an 05/06 combine? Not my monkeys not my circus LOL But yes the turnout was exciting to say the least. Best of Luck to everyone this season. M. 05/06 mix? Oh I know a couple players that will not be happy with that. Will that be Jeremy McNeill’s group then? KeeperStill not my monkey or my circus but I thought it was a second tram for the 05s and 06s that didn’t make the cut for the first 06 and first 05 team. @ EVERYONE ELSE Why is everyone so interested in this team this year? Rhetorical question ... I really do not need to know why LOL Silly Season is over and the olympics are coming time for some USWNT debates instead of second guessing the choices of 15-16 year olds playing soccer

I heard that there was such a good turnout for the UFA-Norcross 06 tryout that they not only filled their roster with some really good girls, but also created another team? Can anyone confirm? We have friends over there and they did have a great turnout. Not sure of a second team, but based on what we heard, they sure had enough for one. They always speak highly of the coach who we also know personally. Coach Sam Helliwell is awesome and if your daughter/son gets an opportunity to play for him, consider it a blessing. I think the plan is for the second team is going to be an 05/06 combine? Not my monkeys not my circus LOL But yes the turnout was exciting to say the least. Best of Luck to everyone this season. M.

I assume this new league will fix all previous inequities in Women’s Soccer as well. Quick ... Which youth soccer league will become the new PRE pre-professional league that best prepares us for the pre-professional league ?!!
Some one get me a new pyramid stat!!!

Maybe last year was the last good year for this team. This year that team will probably drop significantly and continue dropping. Good luck to them, with the league dropping all its quality they might do well Green Monkey, is that you? Only 2 posts from this "sweeperstopper" (aka Green Monkey) and making comments here... that is very suspect. Is this your transition to a new name? LOL soccerlegacy ?!? I am not even sure what you are asking but if I understand correctly you think I am BOTH sweeperstopper AND greenmonkey. So either you know me and this is funny because clearly I am NOT sweeperstopper. Or you don't know me and wow ... THAT is a WILD and CRAZY idea (said in my best Steve Martin impersonation - look I even indicated how OLD I am with THAT reference). Another likely scenario is "sweeperstopper" created an account to ask about the team. Didn't like the answers they received. Choose not to attend the tryout opportunity they asked about and have moved on with their lives. As I said my only disappointment is I took time to answer his/her/their question about "heard the team was folding" and when I added credibility on HOW/WHY I knew first hand about the team ... sweeperstopper responded with the personal disparaging remark about 17 young ladies age 14-15 years old that "they will drop significantly and continue dropping" The mention of me needing a new forum name was me saying "Damn .. I gave up my forum anonymity behind my cool greenmonkey name so some random 2 post wonder could insult my kids team?!!" Oooo now I want my new forum name to be @youdontknowme The forum is IT IS WHAT IT IS Just enjoy it for all its rants AND raves. M.

Whew. What a WILD RIDE!
I have decided that for parents competitive youth soccer tryouts are a lot like preparing for college
(like REAL college application process not just the can I play soccer in college) LOL
RESEARCH the clubs, the leagues, the coaches = the colleges, the academics, the programs, professors, and majors.
RESEARCH the teams = is the college, academics, program, profs, etc going to be a good fit for my kid
ATTEND ID camps, pre-tryout clinics and trainings, talk to parents and coaches = attend college open houses and campus tours, talk to parents and alumni
TRYOUTS = Stress about standardized tests, grades, gpa, and the dreaded personal statements
FEEDBACK "You were great but ..." = This is like the "wait-list" for college. Would love to have you but we just don't have a spot open ACCEPTANCE or REJECTION LETTERS = Offers made on the spot, phone calls made, or NO.
TUITION PAYMENT DUE = You have five days to accept this offer and pay your club fees.
LIFE LESSONS = Team Tryouts, Coaches to ask for Feedback, Offers to Consider, Face to Face Rejections - Resilience and Grit and Determination Clubs with no response at all - what's up with that?
BOOKSTORE = Uniforms, Cleats, Pre-Season Tournament Fees, Don't forget backpack and warm-ups!
FRESHMAN ORIENTATION = The first day of training with your new team!
I could continue this analogy all the way to GRADUATION
Hope your "Silly Season" was a SUCCESS however that may be defined for you and more importantly your PLAYER!
See you on the sidelines!

bogan WHOA ... Thanks for the wiki-pedia deep dive Bogan (/ˈboʊɡən/ BOHG-ən[1]) is Australian and New Zealand slang for a person whose speech, clothing, attitude and behaviour are considered unrefined or unsophisticated. Since the 1980s, the bogan has become a very well-recognised subculture, often as an example of bad taste Some features regularly associated with the bogan stereotype include residing in the outer working class suburbs of larger cities, ... as well as being interested in classic rock music, hoon-driving and excessive alcohol consumption. (However this one is the most disturbing entry LOL) Certain types of clothing are stereotypically associated with bogans, including flannelette shirts, blue singlets, Stubbie shorts, Fluro workwear, Ugg boots, jeans and black leggings. *** Flannel shirts, Ugg boots, jeans or black leggings *** Well I know a quite a lot of fashionable BOGANS this season LOL P.S. I always wondered about your name since I live up near Bogan Park
