Old Information (Pre-Covid and Collapse of DA) but an interesting read. We have been told that US Youth Soccer has asked its State Association Presidents to provide feedback on the impacts that occurred when changes were made from a school year to calendar year, and what they’d foresee as impacts if we went back. cincysc.com/us-soccer-mulling-age-group-changes/US Soccer Mulling Age Group Changes December 9, 2019 in Club There’s a rumor going around that US Soccer is mulling a change from its current birth year cutoff that was implemented in the fall of 2016. It was shared recently on Facebook by one of the leagues we participate in (Buckeye): Buckeye Premier Youth Soccer League US Youth is wanting to understand your thoughts, the implications and/or your concerns on going BACK to the old method of age determination. What are your thoughts on this if this were to be considered in the future??? We haven’t seen anything from US Soccer yet. We have been told that US Youth Soccer has asked its State Association Presidents to provide feedback on the impacts that occurred when changes were made from a school year to calendar year, and what they’d foresee as impacts if we went back. Cincy SC’s official take (not trying to speak for an individual coach or parent though) is this: The change to birth year in 2016 was a mistake and should be corrected. The birth year cutoff is challenging socially at the youngest age groups (1st graders don’t want to play with 2nd graders, and vice versa), and a big problem each year for the trapped 8th graders and trapped Seniors whose former club teammates have now moved on to high school or college. The BEST cutoff would match the school cutoff (i.e., Sept. 30, but not sure if that’s consistent across the US). US Soccer matching the culture of America (grouping by school year) is a better way to increase soccer participation than grouping like FIFA. The compelling reason to “switch back” is that participation has decreased (not certain and don’t have stats to prove it, but think so). To those who are quite reasonably upset about another possible change, here are a few more thoughts: It may not happen. Change is hard (but it’s easier for the kids than it is for the parents & coaches). Having 2 systems as some have proposed (i.e., grandfathering older groups into keeping the birth year cutoff) is unrealistic and short-sighted (sorry); players can play up to solve that though. Letting the frustration over the last change (to birth year in 2016) affect today’s thinking would be throwing good money after bad. It would be easier this time, because now we’re pros at changing and because players will see some positives in it. US Soccer’s leaders better have thick skin – they’re gonna need it. What are your thoughts?

I'm starting to get frustrated myself. I have parents asking me when the schedule will come out so that they can plan for things, and I have no answer for them right now. I don't really care about times right now, but I'm willing to bet there is a schedule out there somewhere that at least has who we are playing and on what date. Are you asking your DOC and club office for it and they aren't providing it? Or haven't you asked - if so why not(you should be that connection between club and team if TM)? I am a TM for a SCCL Team (Club or top level or whatever you call the not premier p1, p2, p3 league) I have asked the coach, the club and the DOC. The answer is there is not a schedule yet and no idea when it will be ready. (But we don't have uniforms to wear yet even if we have a SCCL game scheduled anytime soon so it's really all good.)

Interesting since a ton of UFA team managers received an email saying to expect we would all be getting "free" gold jerseys to use this weekend at the upcoming tournaments until game day jerseys can be shipped from Adidas/Lloyds. So maybe it's actually UFA Metro that is setting the trend that the rest of the UFA branches will follow. LOL

I think you should have posted or sent something like this a month or two ago. More than likely the schedule is already completed and the league is working with the clubs on any requests for change. I know I have heard the rumors about a 10 game schedule (10 teams in SCCL Club League), but has that been confirmed anywhere? I also heard a rumor that no league games were going to be scheduled in November, thus providing opportunities for teams to play more tournaments late in the season. If this is the case, there would only be 8 weekends to schedule the league games, so a 10 game schedule wouldn't be bad. Again, I have not seen this confirmed anywhere. I assure you I have written and spoken these words to all who should read/listen for months LOL Just posting it here so when it happens I get a scoop award from Soccerhouse and when it doesn't happen GameofThrow-ins can give me a whomp whomp whomp sound effect! And I get some small personal satisfaction of saying to myself at least I tried (shrug) As long as Disney isn't one of those November tournaments I am asked to go to ... All is good over here in my world!

Dear SCCL Schedulers
When scheduling the 10-11 games for the Club Level SCCL teams please consider the following:
1. There are TWELVE full weekends from September 5 through Nov. 21 ... That is plenty of time to schedule ONE GAME per weekend per week and still have two completely empty extra weekends for make-up games.
2. Labor Day Weekend: Since we only have 10 games in a season I for one would prefer that we do NOT play 30% of our total season games by scheduling THREE games over the three day weekend as has been done in the past!
3. Fall Break: We recognize that SCCL Clubs are spread out over 3 states and at least 7 separate school districts but by using google I can already figure out when school fall breaks are scheduled for the SCCL clubs so I for one would prefer that our team NOT have 3 full weekends off from scheduled league games in October.
4. Given the uncertainty and possibility of CoVid related quarantines that may occur; I for one think spreading games out over the entire season and having neutral fields already scheduled to be available for make-up game weekends sounds like a great idea to go ahead and plan ahead for.
5. Please give consideration to these simple scheduling common sense suggestions to continue to make the league the a quality league that truly puts players and families as a priority.
6. I for one and personally know several others that would be glad to assist the league in anyway we can.

LOL - I don't like the knickknack store, but I will protect with my dying breath their ability to operate their knickknack store But the owner, mister paddywhack, is always trying to give the damn dog a bone! A frog goes into a bank and approaches the teller. He can see from her nameplate that the teller's name is Patricia Whack. So he says, "Ms. Whack, I'd like to get a loan to buy a boat and go on a long vacation." Patti looks at the frog in disbelief and asks how much he wants to borrow. The frog says $30,000. The teller asks his name and the frog says that his name is Kermit Jagger, his dad is Mick Jagger, and that it's OK, he knows the bank manager. Patti explains that $30,000 is a substantial amount of money and that he will need to secure some collateral against the loan. She asks if he has anything he can use as collateral. The frog says, "Sure. I have this," and produces a tiny pink porcelain elephant, about half an inch tall, bright pink and perfectly formed. Very confused, Patti explains that she'll have to consult with the manager and disappears into a back office. She finds the manager and says "There's a frog called Kermit Jagger out there who claims to know you and wants to borrow $30,000. He wants to use this as collateral." She holds up the tiny pink elephant. "I mean, what the heck is this?" The bank manager looks back at her and says: "It's a knick knack, Patti Whack. Give the frog a loan. His old man's a Rolling Stone"

I would place Concorde 06G the strongest seeded going into the season
And then a lot of great competition amongst (in alpha order) GSA KNOXVILLE ROSWELL RUSH SSA UFA
with the bottom being (in alpha order) Ambush AFU BUSA

Did he tell them not to sign or has UFA not signed? We signed over a week ago and have already ordered 2020-21 kits. An 05 parent is pissed who isn't going to move? Or begrudgingly are? As for the NL thing, if I'm an Athena A club/coach, I start asking Georgia soccer WTF and consider going SCCL-P. Unless Piedmont has created a club-based league. But I thought NL was all about "earning your place." I don’t know about the 05s but his other team for sure earned their place with their National Championship

There are two soccer seasons in GA.
HOT and RAINY
I guess we all wear the BLACK jerseys when its HOT and the GRAY/WHITE jerseys when it is RAINY?
There are so many other colors in the universe why is everyone always using just the black or white this year?
At least last year UFA and AFU had some red options? I might just move my kid to impact for the Blue option. LOL
With all the mergers and aquisitions and alliances and partnerships no one could figure out how to realign club colors so that every BIG6 plus didn't all have the same colors every year?
Just my racing at windmill thought for the day!

I agree rescinding offers is horrible and I also agree it’s not just Tophat. I have personal knowledge of it happening at Concorde, UFA, AFU and GSA over the years of soccer. Might be last minute coaching or playing level changes, might be miscommunication, might be misunderstanding between coaches and parents or players of what was intended and what was actually going to happen. Regardless it’s terrible when it happens and the only ones it actually affects are the kids!

Pretty sure my daughter was also caught up in a numbers game at UFA-Forsyth. She went to an eval over the weekend for the ECNL team with the ultimate goal of maybe getting on the NPL team. Afterward, her current coach called her to see how things went. She was told that there would not be a lot of room for upward movement at her position because the NPL team was basically full at her position. She knows of girls that were bumped off the NPL team down to SCCL-P or whatever it is called now. She also heard from a friend that the NPL team did get some players that didn't make the ECNL cut. This supports the info above that there was downward movement from ECNL to NPL to SCCL, thus making any upward movement almost impossible. Why would a player need to drop from NPL to SCCLp? Were all the SCCL teams at Norcross full?

UFA calls their top teams premier which became somewhat confusing when SCCL premier came about LOL
Usually on the girls side
UFA Forsyth Premier teams play in NPL (SAPL)
UFA Norcross Premier teams play in SCCL Top/ Club Tier
UFA Red, White, Blue etc (lol) play in SCCL premier 1-2-3
Just like to keep everything clear as mud in alphabet soup

I agree KID, COACH then CLUB ... then team then league
the KID providing the motivation and drive the COACH proving the knowledge, skills, expertise the CLUB provides the KID an opportunity to play on a TEAM and LASTLY and LEAST important The league provides the opportunity for teams to play each other.

So it is very sad what happened to that 07 TH team and how it seems to have happened but to one degree it speaks pretty highly of TH and the quality of talent they have at the club. It shouldn't be lost that you have 9 kids go from TH to Concorde top team and displace their current kids. Sucks for those Concorde players but I guess Concorde sees a significant difference in players between the two. I'm not sure what the total number of new players are on that Concorde 07 Platinum team but there are at least 10. And likewise a few years ago players left Concorde North 06 and completely displaced a Tophat Gold team. And the UFA 07 or 08 team that displaced the Tophat team. And an “entire team” from somewhere that relocated to Tophat Milton (was that the 03s a few years ago) and Honeybadger had half a 05 team leave AFU for UFA and on and on and on ... This is not a new occurrence. Players follow coaches or other players or leagues all the time!

So are the CDC guidelines just that guidelines for risk management that Georgia Soccer recommends clubs REFER to when making decisions or are clubs REQUIRED to comply with the listed suggested protocols.
I read it as long as you are following local laws and requirements but need to sign the waiver that you have read all the suggestions put forth in the CDC attachment.
Which again lends to the question is it Georgia Law or Local city, county laws that clubs need to follow when returning to play?

Someone post it like all the other lists. Concorde never and I mean NEVER posts a list. The only way to find out is to ask someone who is coaching which teams at which age group. Sarcasm font ON: Hi there I have a large family of soccer players and was wondering. Does anyone have any information about who is coaching the SCCL teams at Concorde? Especially interested in the age groups for boys and girls ages: 2009 2008 2007 2006 2005 2004 2003

It really is a shame that the 03 National Champions can’t have the ECNL spot. Don’t know the politics behind it but from the outside looking in it just doesn’t seem fair to not reward their hard work, talent, efforts, and results!

Nope to the taking of temperatures because until someone shows me that this thing is only contagious once a fever spikes it’s a waste of time and money and resources. Everything I read said the fever isn’t the first indication and you were contagious long before the fever was discovered.
Im sure we will have to have parents sitting 6 feet apart on spacer dots for the sideline and even the refs wearing masks and gloves but truthfully I don’t see that curbing the pandemic.
Honestly I feel safer outside for soccer than I do for an indoor sport like volleyball or basketball.
