I was under the impression that NPL at least on the girls side was about 18 games throughout the year and so many games that require out of town travel ... so good for AFC for giving the girls a full competitive season. Combining local and Regional Travel may not be ideal for some but that’s the trade off.
OR play in an SCCL club ... the girls are playing 28 games in league (isn’t that’s like 50% more games) and all but two games are in ATL the others less than a 2 hour drive.
So how do NPL at UFA or SSA supplement so few league games at NPL do they add even more tournaments?
Why is the perception that NPL is the higher league at UFA or SSA (pyramid doesn’t lie) sounds like NPL means higher club fees, higher travel cost, and less games. I wonder if NPL games are equitable competition or blow-outs?
And once again ... The good news is.
Soccer in Georgia is readily available at every player ability, and every travel interest, and every competitive level option.

Slick Daddy
I think everyone in the mega clubs can make a case for the second tier status from the perceived “main location”
Ask CF North or South how they feel to Central Ask any UFA how they feel to Fowler Ask any NTH how they feel to Buckgead Ask GSA North how they feel to South And I guess now we just add SSA to the list.

Not sure what slickdaddy means about the main reason SSA did so poorly? Boys or Girls? Specific Age group or Club Wide?
Also it appears they were not location specific another TM who played them said the SSA SCCL 06 Girls are out of Northside.

From the girls side ...
Loved it. Incredibly well run. Easy management from the TM side. Quick and efficient game cards, score reporting, etc.
Water breaks implemented league wide this weekend.
Player tents, benches, water coolers, ref tents all at the fields.
Quality refs and online reporting to the league if there had been for any issues.
Competition seems equitable as most games were ties or very close in score ... Even if there is an unofficial don’t run up the score that wouldn’t result in 3-2 scores.
Great signage and Physical Therapy tents and banners all lent to a very credible enjoyable “kickoff” weekend feel. Plus tee-shirt sales. The girls love that right?!
As a TM I received communication from the league every day.
There was an email reminding coaches the U12-U14 unlimited sub rule was not there to abuse and use to run down the clock (it must have been an issue since it warranted coaches being addressed and DOC being notified”
The message from the club and the league has been very consistent
The primary focus point of the SCCL is to provide the best game day experience for your players and teams. First, please keep in mind the SCCL is a club driven league. Your club Directors have been collaborating off of the field to ensure the game day experience on the field is positive for all of your players, teams and clubs. Everyone is excited to compete against each other this weekend.

Schedules are the schedules tab Just click schedules don’t click on the Fields subcategory under the schedules tab just click the word schedules events.gotsport.com/events/Default.aspx?EventID=65943Did not mean to imply ref bias ... Was complimenting my club for streamlining ref payment for the team managers and bringing some credibility to the payment process. Most of what makes SCCL appealing to me as a league are these nuances of a professionally run league and not just a money making con.

At the fields today someone was complaining that they might have to manually enter in the player names and ID numbers. Your friend should be pretty happy after tonight final email update!

Curious Minds Want To Know: Are "all" the SCCL clubs getting the "fancy" SCCL patch on their uniforms? Or just "our" club? They look nice and add some nice "cred" to the jersey. But since my kid wears a donut logo ... My jersey cred threshold is pretty low.

I think the ECNL people will still want to see DA and the SCCL will want to see Athena/Select, etc. etc. etc. and the Girls are used to sifting through all the boy stuff. LOL People will self-select into reading and watching and commenting on what they want to.

Photos ... gotta get the mickey pic Fun ... Can’t tell me people aren’t paying to go to parks 100,000 per club plus 5 clubs That’s 1/2 a mil per year that could stay right here in ATL So ... how should we spend it???

I printed out home cards and printed stickers to slap on when we are the away ... but seriously any high school kid with decent coding skills could build an app or hey maybe us club soccer could use some of that registration money to get someone to write the form and pull the data.
And the space for the us club soccer id # ... hand out bifocals to the refs please. LOL

Can I get an AMEN from the CHOIR?!!!
Are ALL the SCCL Clubs paying the ref's directly or just my club?!!
Regardless ...
GONE are the days of unmarked, non-sequential bills, in specific denominations, in 3 separate envelopes, shadingly handed out mob style to the refs like a sideline drug deal gone bad !!!
THAT ALONE is WORTH THE PRICE OF SCCL ADMISSION!!!

Okay I will be the first manager to throw this out there:
How is it that we can not just have a US Club Soccer game card/report?
Logically since play.kyck is where all the Player Registrations and ID# etc. are already uploaded how difficult could it possibly be to have the data pulled into an SCCL game report document?
Is it that no one has asked US Club to build a game report? Is it that US Club soccer would charge the SCCL a fee for that form that is cost prohibitive? Is it the SCCL team manager volunteers resist having a game report auto generated and would much prefer "the old fashioned way". Yes, I have a sense of humor that I give you for the same cost as my feedback.
When a team goes to a tournament using SincSports the Official Tournament Roster pulls the data from the Sanctioning Organization (USYS, US Club, GA Soccer, etc.) Then SincSports pulls the data into the Game Cards. So this is not a new concept.
I realize this is a small detail in the large scope of SCCL feedback but still ...
I hate when Adults make things more complicated than they have to be.
LOL

Back to the original question regarding constant injuries at the academy ages ... This is a YOUTH SPORTS INJURY EPIDEMIC across the country. Tommy John has an entire campaign about this (yes he is the son of Tommy John the baseball player) minimizeinjurymaximizeperformance.com/I am not interested in selling more books for him :-) LOL I am interested in the conversation that this opens up. WHY? WHY SHOULD OVERUSE INJURIES UNFORTUNATELY BE A PART OF THE PROCESS???!!!!!! It is just like all the other complaints we as parents seem to have in this soccer set-up. We do it or buy in to it or accept it or tolerate it and even pay for it because .... "Unfortunately ... that's just the way it is?!" And what our only other option is to pick up the player and the ball and go home?!!! If anyone is familiar with the I LOVE TO WATCH YOU PLAY movement, they have a lot to say about it as well. SPECIALIZATION LEADS TO LIFE-LONG HEALTH PROBLEMS Specialization is focused technical training – 9 months or more out of the year, before children have gone through puberty. It is the number one predictor that a young athlete will suffer an adult-style over-use injury, that means maybe a torn ligament or fracture of the vertebrae because kids’ bones aren’t ossified yet. These are injuries liable to affect the individual their entire lives. The second best predictor is family socio-economic status. Strikingly, the higher a family’s socio-economic status, the more likely they are to have a child with an adult-style over-use injury because they can afford all these travel teams and extra workouts. We’ve created a health epidemic that affects people who are more well off, which is really eye opening. www.ilovetowatchyouplay.comYes I am on a soapbox and of course we will all have ideas and suggestions for change but ultimately not much will change because we all love our kids and they all love soccer. I personally know kids under AGE 12 SOCCER (not heard about or heard of ... I personally KNOW and have witnessed most of the injuries that caused) Concussions broken nose broken collar bone broken wrist OsgoodSchlatters (knees) Torn ACL Meniscus tear Fractures from OsgoodSclatters (leg) Sprained Ankles Seivers disease (ankles) Broken foot bones So to answer your question atlfutboldad ... yes lots of other peoples kids are going through it to ... Now we all just need to ask ourselves what can or will be be able to do about it?

I rarely watch the news anyway and with all the World Cup action I am even less aware of non-soccer news cycle ... so I am just now learning about the boys soccer team from Thailand stranded in a cave for two weeks and the ongoing rescue missions.
I can not begin to imagine the complexity of the logistics.
A former Navy Seal diver was interviewed and commented that one of the things going in their favor was that the boys were together as teammates.
This is not a small rescue there are 1000s involved. And the boys have a 2.5 mile exit route swimming, diving, and climbing under and through murky cave waters.
They've been stranded two weeks so far and four boys were brought out yesterday. They expect the rest today through tomorrow.

Nope It's not an ad campaign its a partnership with DraftKings for a Bracket Style Competition/Contest
Some Cool Prizes including a trip to the winning teams country.
Press Release Below:
When the United States men’s soccer team failed to qualify for the 2018 World Cup, fans were pretty crushed. One group that took the news particularly hard? Jägermeister. The German brand has close ties to the world of football that date back to 1973. That was the year Jägermeister made history by becoming the first brand to put its logo on a sports jersey (for German football club Eintracht Braunschweig).
On June 14, when the 2018 FIFA World Cup kicks off in Russia, the U.S. won’t be competing. That won’t stop U.S. international football fans from getting involved thanks to Jägermeister. The brand has partnered with DraftKings to keep the thrill of the competition alive in the states with “The Real Shot” challenge—a first of its kind bracket style soccer competition where global football fans (and Team USA fans) can select a “Real Shot” team that they believe will win the entire tournament.
“When the U.S. got knocked out of the World Cup qualifier, we were particularly devastated,” explained Jägermeister marketing chief, Chris Peddy. “We had been following it for the past year as a company, obviously also following our sister team Germany given we are owned by a German company. We were really hoping that the U.S. would qualify though.”
When that didn’t happen, the brand needed to find another way to participate in one of the largest sporting events in the world.
“We came up with the idea of how consumers can adopt a new team and the concept was that every team has a real shot of winning the tournament,” Peddy added. Once the brand had its idea, it went looking for the best partner to bring that idea to life. DraftKings fit that bill.
After fans pick an overall tournament winner, they then select winners for each of the 48 scheduled games. When the knockout phase of the competition rolls in (round of 16, quarter finals, semi finals and finals) the fan’s accumulated points will roll over and fans again select the teams they believe will win, round by round.
Those selections will help participants gain more points as the tournament goes on for a chance to top one of the two leaderboards, the “Meister Leaderboard” and the “Community Leaderboard.” Prizes will be doled out at the end of the competition including Jägermeister branded prizes to the top 500 Meister Leaders and an ultimate all-expenses-paid trip to the winning team’s country for the fan with the most overall points. The game is free to enter.
Another way to score extra points is by engaging with content on the DraftKings website.
“Sports is one of the fastest growing forms of content, accelerated by fan engagement and participation and we are committed to bringing top-tier content to our extremely engaged customer base,” Ezra Kucharz, chief business officer at DraftKings, said in a statement.
Added Peddy: “There’s a lot of content that we are working on with DraftKings. You really can get inside the game and understand which teams have the best chance of winning and try to form an emotional connection and an insider connection to every single game and obviously also learn about the players that are going to make a big difference in the run for the World Cup.”

I am LOVING a few of these World Cup ads.
First Kudos to Volkswagen for the Jump on The Wagen Campaign offering US alternative teams to root for.
Even funnier is the "legal disclaimers" on the bottom of some of those Volkswagen Ads.
"Root for Germany - We gave you the frankfurter"
(never drive while holding sharp objects or eating)
The commercial with the Alexi Lalas who are you rooting for?
While picking up an Iceland Viking
(please always exercise caution when picking up soccer fans)
They start singing Ole Ole Ole and
(only real vikings should wear helmets in a moving vehicle)
AND OF COURSE
The GEICO Longest Celebration Slide Ever Commercial
AND LASTLY
Anyone have any idea what brand is advertised in the commercial with THE SOCCER CAGE MATCH? With the girl doing sweet parkour moves up the side of the cage?

I am more apt to believe that Alvarez was actually 19 in his first world cup unlike that "19 year old" Nigerian goal keeper :-)
Also was shocked to hear that Alvarez wasn't even the first one to appear in FIVE World Cups!
