Atrocious play by AU. That is all! Ridiculous...

The older the age, the fewer spots that are available especially on the top team. Teams improve by bettering the bench and the number is usually 2 to 3 players. In some cases, current players do some recruiting as they know who the top players are.

Turned the game on. Hopefully all the empty seats will get someone's attention. Hoping for a good result.

To all the posters about Nationals, you know what you sign up for in each league. If you want to be sure to have time for "vacation", play rec. Ocal travel, minimal practice time and months off.

Wow! Horrible ending. They may need to sign a different GK. Thoughts?

Once a player gets to a certain age, the 50% standard ceases to exist. Kid played defender on an ecnl top nationally ranked team. Coach subbed out the defense 10 mins per game, the last 5 mins of the first half and the first 5 mins of the second half. Thesr 10 mins plus halftime provided the rest needed to play tbe remaining minutes. Also, development doesn't just happen during games. Most occurs during training.

It should concern the team. Their play performance is lacking. It was hard to watch.

Kid received 23 offers including 3/4 ride to a recent D1 national champ side. Kid turned down DA and was not interested in AU Academy. So in response to if kid needs to play MLSNext, the answer is no. Kids ECNL team had 9 D1 signees.

Would disagree that parents and players were "shafted" with ECNL. Our kid had a great experience with ECNL and playoffs. Travel is understood if you are playing beyond rec even for lower leagues. There used to be a saying that said something like "to be the best, you've got to beat the best." Beyond the Big 5 or 6, that means traveling outside Atlanta Metro.

I understand the shortage. However it was our experience that a 17 year old center ref at times could not control a u17 (16 year old players) and safety became an issue esp when the ARs are even younger. Once you lose control, there is no getting it back. Again, not been an issue in college matches.

Never had issues with missed calls unless the game calls became safety issues. My only complaint was showing up to a game and the center was the same age as the players. In the top divisions it was our experience that the center at that age did not have the experience to ref that level because of lack of experience. Now our player is in college we have not had that issue arise. Good luck to all the teams!

Offensively, AU looks better tonight IMO with the new offensive starters and formation.

Have to disagree college coaches only focus on MLS and MLS Next clubs. Kid I know played ECNL at one of the Big 5 in Atlanta, number 1 in SE in consecutive years and played for natty. He had 23 offers including by a very recent D1 National champ but turned them all down for a full academic ride to a very well known local engineering school. All but 2 received D1 offers. Currently 4 are starting D1, 3 are starting D2 or D3 and 1 that turned down D1 starts for their college club team. They would go to a showcase and have 50 coaches watching. If kid can play, coaches know and recruit them. No MLS is needed.

What is happening now is not working from the bottom academy to the top team and everything in between. Results indicate that for sure. Bringing in high priced transfer individuals does not make a team.

Kid played for 4 years making it to Alabama each year. He was selected to the National pool the last 2 years. He played ECNL for club. Both experiences were great with each having different experiences. Great Coach also!

Starting a new trend. Not watching their games so they win. Opposite of what happens when I faithfully view their games at MB or at home.

Great attitude by some posters above. Kid played in ECNL National Championship game. This was a great accomplishment for the team and for all the many years of hard work. Money was never considered. I guess ECNL doesnt warrant the recognition...

In response to the above question, the Big 5 clubs top teams play in ECNL. Some of the clubs play in MLS Next. You may play these clubs in pre-season tournaments instead of league play.

A great place to start is to understand NCAA and/or NAIA rules. Both have information on their websites. Due to Title IX, scholarship monies are limited. Coaches do look at grades. Academic scholarships do not cost them athletic money.

I say those teams that win have developed players regardless if they have developed them or not. Those players on the top team dont stop developing, they continue that process.
Players are always trying to get to the best places. Just read this forum to know that is true.
My kid did the same. Was best player on top 6 club team at his age group. Team results were not there. He was recruited by a top 5 club and started for them. That year 4 others moved to that club. Beautiful soccer. He made the choice, we supported him.

Agree with poster who said players should be mad if they lose. My kid would be ticked if they lost. Even reaching the finals of a top tournament and losing would tick him off. He didnt want the 2nd place medal. He would take it graciously but after he more times than not elude to a phrase he said on more than one occasion "second place is the first loser". He would be out using that as motivation to practice to get better for his team and for himself.

Lest we not forget, the current team members also know talent and can contact a player. I know this happens...no coach contact needed.

Experience for our player was the coach improved the team by improving playef 14 to 16. They played limited minutes but minutes played had to be quality.

ECNL players are well known by u15. With few exveptions, the top are known to the coaches and to the players themselves. The exception may be a player who moves in from another state. I think people forget that the best players also continue to develop and get better as well. Good luck to all!
