19 days until SCCL club games weekend 1...still no schedule from our club. in signs of positive news, it looks like they are finally beginning to construct the website. At this rate, the website should be finished in October. events.gotsport.com/events/?EventID=80548It does show that there will be 4 premier levels at the boys age groups.

When I hear a FdB say he didn’t want to share too much so his players wouldn’t over think it, I’ve got to wonder if that’s true or if he was simply out of (good) ideas... I took that to be a swipe at the players that he didn’t think they were smart enough to process lots of information. Instead, he had to keep it simple so they wouldn’t overthink Edit—smart is probably not a fair word. It is more that he did not think that the players had a very high soccer IQ.

Interesting to hear that he was not consulted in the Nagbe and Gressel trades. Those were 2 cornerstone pieces of Atlanta United and I would have thought that the coach would be involved in the decision to move those two players. It reminds me of the Bill Parcells quote that "If I'm going to be asked to cook the meal, I'd like to be able to pick the groceries."

I don’t understand any perceived advantage that the MLS league would have over ECNL. If the thought process is that it gives you exposure to Atlanta United, you get the same exposure in ECNL since Atlanta United plays it as well. What am I missing? Seems like just another alphabet league.

Hoping for either decent seats to Miss St or crappy seats to UT. Auburn is a pipe dream. Not interested in freezing my buns off to watch Vandy @ $150/seat. I plan to have them refund the balance. Triple points for them keeping my $$ doesn't make sense in the era of the Magill Society. College football needs to be crowdless ... Period. If paid athletes aren't having crowds then why should the indentured servants? We got a rough draft of our SCCL-CLUB schedule finally but with no times like the GSA and Roswell parents that have shared theirs so far. I think every club has them but some choose not to release because they could possibly change and there's no location nor times attached to these dates in the schedule. post it.

VERY TRUE. I often think the same thing when I see the NFL coaches or top European league coaches recycled year after year, team after team. It is nice when a new person gets an opportunity! We're about to find out. If ATL looks sharper under Glass than DeBoer (hard not to be).. and they really turn it around, does he get a shot? If they're successful, he probably should. i think that the standard will be higher than looking sharper. If the team is aggressive, exciting to watch and wins games, he has a chance.

I'm a Team Manager for a new SCCL Club team. Does anyone know if make up games are done for weather cancellations? Anyone know when the schedule and/or pairings will be released? Yes, they do make up games for weather cancellations. I have 2 kids in SCCL. Still waiting on the dates and opponents to be provided.

Sorry nothing on the U13s or the ECRL www.topdrawersoccer.com/club-soccer-articles/cesa-friendlies-recap-+-standouts_aid48413if it is behind a paywall for you, see full article below: CESA Friendlies Recap + Standouts | Article Written by J.R. Eskilson | Published: August 19, 2020 The Third Annual CESA Pre-Season Friendlies were held last weekend in South Carolina, which featured some of the top clubs form the Southeast Region in the ECNL, Girls Academy, and other National Leagues. The general consensus from parents and fans at the event is that the hosts did an excellent job of keeping everyone organized and safe during the two days of games. TopDrawerSoccer recaps the action from the each of the age groups below. Girls ECNL U14 Jacksonville FC and GSA went 2-0 at the event. GSA picked up wins over NC Fusion (1-0) and Charlotte SA (2-0). Jacksonville recorded wins over NC Fusion (3-0) and CESA (5-0). Girls ECNL U15 CESA ECNL was the only team to go 2-0 at the event in the U15 age group. CESA picked up victories over Jacksonville (1-0) and UFA (3-0). NC Fusion, SC United, and NTH Tophat all went 1-0-1 at the event. Girls ECNL U16 NTH Tophat 05 GA Gold went unbeaten in Flight D in the U16 age group. Tophat played to a scoreless draw against Charlotte SA Girls ECNL on Saturday, and then picked up a big win over SC United on Sunday. Jenna Sapong was a standout in goal for Tophat. Madison Nichols, Millika McLeod, and Reese Black scored for Tophat. Nina Bartlett provided the assist on Nichols’ goal. UFA and Alabama FC went 2-0 at the event. UFA nabbed wins over CISC (4-0) and Charlotte SA (2-1). Hadley Collier was a standout for the UFA defense throughout the weekend. Alabama FC recorded victories over CESA (2-1) and CISC (3-0). Girls ECNL U17 UFA 04G, AFU 04 ECNL, and Alabama FC 04 all finished 2-0 at the event. UFA recorded wins over Charlotte SA ECNL National 04 and CISC ECNL during the two-day event. Elizabeth Fleming Dean scored the winning goal against Charlotte on a header in the 4-3 victory. Dean also had an assist in the game. Tori DellaPeruta scored twice and Jordan Dudley also scored. Dudley scored twice on Sunday in the win over CISC. Avery Berryman, DellaPeruta, and Dean also scored on Sunday. Mia Ridd*** and Heidi Harris combined in goal for the two victories. Ridd*** also played up with the U19 squad for a game. AFU picked up victories over CESA (1-0) and SC United (2-1). Alabama also went perfect at the event with wins over CISC (4-3) and CESA (1-0). Boys ECNL U14 UFA ECNL and Alabama FC went 2-0 at the event. UFA picked up wins over CESA (4-1) and CISC North Pro Academy (2-0). Alabama recorded wins over Charlotte SA (1-0) and CISC North Pro Academy (4-1). GSA and SC Surf also had a strong showing at the event. Boys ECNL U15 GSA, CESA, NTH NASA, AFU, and UFA all went unbeaten in the U15 age group from the event. Boys ECNL U16 South Carolina United, UFA, and NTH-NASA all went 2-0 at the event. South Carolina picked up wins over GSA (2-0) and AFU (3-2). UFA recorded victories over CISC Pro Academy (3-1) and CESA (2-0). NTH-NASA beat Charlotte SA (1-0) and CESA (2-0). Boys ECNL U17 Charlotte SA National ECNL was the only team to pick up four points from the two games in the U17 age group as the teams split results throughout the weekend. Charlotte beats NTH NASA on Saturday, and then played to a 1-1 draw against GSA on Sunday. Looks like top drawer soccer really knows tophat vs all the other teams on both the boys and girls side..... as has been discusses previously about top drawer, it looks like a lot of parent reporting. I particularly love the shout out to the defender without any mention of the other defenders or goalie for the team.

Look on the bright side, there’s hardly anyone left in Georgia Soccer to see them (schedules). 🤔😄😜 What's the bright side to look at? How exactly are things better now? In fairness, the SCCL has been very well run during its first two years. It is tough to judge given the state of covid. The frustrating part is that clubs have agreed on dates for the games even if times and fields have not been scheduled. Because the clubs have agreed on the dates, the clubs should release the information on the tentative agreed upon dates.

The Charlotte based clubs are doing the CESA friendlies as is NC Fusion. Georgia has been the least restricted state and I don't see that changing. Probably won't change, but very surprised at the looseness of safety measures taking place in GA and FL. GA has a larger % of COVID cases per capita than NC and even had a 7 year old die from COVID last week. The 7 year old dying "from" COVID is a bit inaccurate. It is very sad but the 7 year old had covid and was taking a bath. They believe that he had febrile seizure while in the bath and he drowned. While the death is being attributed to COVID it is a bit of a stretch to me.

Interesting thing about GSA schedules is that the boys (above) and the girls (below) are identical except for the inclusion of FC Alliance and ATL UTD for the boys. 9/12 - vs. Ambush 9/13 - vs. Tophat 10/17 - vs. AFU 10/18 - vs. Roswell 10/24 - vs. SSA 10/25 - vs. BUSA 10/31 - vs. Concorde 11/7 - vs. Rush Union 11/8 - vs. UFA For SCCL-C the boys & girls schedules are supposed to be the same with the exception that boys & girls play at opposite locations (if boys are home, girls are away). The only other exception is the boys play AU. Everything else is supposed to be the same. That was not the case last year for Concorde for sure and glancing at the schedule, it looks like other clubs had different dates as well for boys and girls. events.gotsport.com/events/schedule.aspx?EventID=77853&Gender=Girls&Age=13

Shouldn't the schedules all just be put on the website? Isn't that a function of the league itself? Yes, of course. They haven't done it so we can either be proactive in trying to figure it out so that we can plan our life or sit idly by.

Right but if it is SCCL-C, it will be the same for the entire gender for your club. Just post which gender, opponent and date. Helps others who have not received the schedule. Found it, GSA schedule u14 SCCL

Somewhere in this Schedules Thread, both the Roswell & GSA SCCL-C schedules have been posted. Our TM has had ours in TeamSnap for about 2 weeks now. I am a little confused though because the Roswell schedule, at the time, included FC Alliance, but the GSA schedule does not show them anytime in the Fall. Those two schedules are for different genders. I don’t know if that has anything to do with it but there’s a possibility

I tend to look more at the map of governors since national politics can be very different than local politics. 8 of 14 schools in Big 10 are in blue states. 10 of 14 of pac 12 are in blue states. 8 of 14(15 if notre dame is included) acc schools are in blue states. 12 of 14 SEC schools are in red states. 7 of 9 big 12 schools are in red states. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_governors

One of those 2 deaths in a 7 year old drowning in a bath tub. They think that he had a febrile seizure and drowned. It is extremely sad but I do not know how that goes down as a covid death. Covid did not kill him. The fever did not kill him. The seizure did not kill him. While I agree with you to an extent COVID lead to the fever which lead to the seizure that lead to the drowning death. They count deaths like this all the time for other things, like cancer. Most cancer deaths are from the treatment or the palliative care (i.e. morphine for pain) or the complications of cancer like big blood clots that go to your lungs and kill you but they only got the blood clot because they had cancer. Completely get what you are saying. However kids drown while unsupervised in a bath all the time. That is one of the first thing that they warn parents about when having a child. Also, if he was unsupervised, how do they know he had a febrile seizure? If your kid has a high fever from covid, why are you leaving them alone for that length of time in a bath?

Big 10 and Pac 12 have way better testing then any soccer club and they cancel football how in the heck are we allowing our kids to play soccer? Thinking we might need to re evaluate this. I hate this I want my kids in school and on the field but I starting to get concerned. This isn't just about the virus, IMO. There hasn't any significant change in cases since a week or so ago. But what happened 10 days ago? The Pac-12 players formed a group threatening to boycott, asking for things like 50% of revenues (pipe dream), agreed-upon safety protocols, basically a guarantee that they would be safe from the virus this fall (like that's even possible) and a whole bunch of other stuff. Now I think they deserve some of it - definitely uniform testing & safety protocols. And NIL rights. But some of it was just completely unreasonable and it completely caught the schools off guard. Big 10 players joined in the fray and formed a group too. I don't know if I ever saw their demands or if they simply said "ditto" to what the Pac-12 group said. But they expressed deep concerns about their safety. Good for them. Problem is, they did all of this so late in the process that the schools were caught flat-footed. They're just not ready to designate the players as anything other than "student athletes" and they're also scared as hell of lawsuits from any players who contract the virus and have serious health issues or, worse, die from it. My daughter just played in the Concorde tournament, as did a whole bunch of other kids. And we know tournaments typically have way more people roaming the fields than we do during regular season matches. So why is it so unsafe to play club soccer? As of today, just under 15,000 kids from the ages of 5-17 have tested positive for Covid-19 in the state of GA: dph.georgia.gov/covid-19-daily-status-report (scroll down to the case demographics) Of those, 189 have been hospitalized and 2 have died. According to the most recent US census data, approximately 1.8M children aged 5-17 live in Georgia. That's an infection rate of just under 0.833%. While I don't have the numbers for how many are asymptomatic, I do know that we've consistently heard a very low % of those kids with the virus have shown anything more than mild symptoms. So does anyone really think the situation with this virus will be better in the spring? A vaccine may be ready, but initially I think it won't be available to anyone but the most vulnerable to Covid-19. This virus won't just suddenly go away either or even die out. So what do we do? One of those 2 deaths in a 7 year old drowning in a bath tub. They think that he had a febrile seizure and drowned. It is extremely sad but I do not know how that goes down as a covid death. Covid did not kill him. The fever did not kill him. The seizure did not kill him.

No surprise here, PAC-12 is about to announce by EOD cancellation of the season as well. Has anyone heard or seen definitive decisions on college fall sports outside of football? Big 10 statement included all sports. Besides football, other sports impacted are men's and women's cross country, field hockey, men's and women's soccer and women's volleyball.

I’m really curious what people think the odds are we have a soccer season. I don’t care about the “should we” or not. Simply the odds of “will we?” The delay in getting schedules out certainly makes me think that the season will not be played. I anticipate that the teams will continue to practice but that the games will be cancelled. I fully expect the decision to be announced around Labor Day weekend after Concorde, SSA, NTH and GSA have completed their tournaments. GSA suddenly adding the GSA Juniors Cup to its tournament offerings a couple of weeks ago helped to influence this perspective.
