Have you know anyone who has gotten coronavirus while playing soccer? I have yet to hear of anyone. Even teams that have had to quarantine as a result of one player having it, I have yet to hear about anyone on the team being infected by that person. Well with how Covid-19 works there’s no real way to show how someone got it. But I’ve known of AFU and Gsa players getting it in July and it’s assumed they got it from their team. Did multiple people on their teams get covid?

Even teams that have had to quarantine as a result of one player having it, I have yet to hear about anyone on the team being infected by that person. That will never happen because no one can scientifically pinpoint where someone got infected, it's about minimizing the potential risks. If one kid test positive on a team and then within a week several other people on the same team test positive, we can relate it back to being as part of that team. See as examples Camp High Harbour, choir practice in Washington, 2 funerals in Albany, FC Dallas, Nashville, Florida Marlins, St. Louis Cardinals. You are a coach at NTH and the teams have been practicing for weeks now. Have there by team wide outbreaks? I have people at several clubs and even teams that had to pull out of the Nike Select Cup due to Covid do not have a group of people that have tested positive. Normally it is one person and the rest have to quarantine for 14 days.

Its fun to talk about soccer. Nothing sets the forum on fire like who should get credit for developing a player... None of us view development the same. No one can agree on what age the most critical amount of development happens. It is an endless debate... So its funny to see on another post the question coming back... The reality is there will NEVER be a group of 20 players that start playing soccer at age 8 or 9 and live in the same neighborhood or town that will win a National Championship in youth soccer. It just doesn't happen. The club based model all over the world and here in America is based on large numbers in the pyramid building to create 1 great team of 14 to 16 players... So who developed the player? Really who cares... But we debate it because as Americans we want to be associated with a winner. If I say another club does better development I then somehow cheapen the experience at my current club... So the debate rages... Very true. Could you imagine the discussions if training and solidarity payments were in play between all of the metro clubs. Those would be some intense conversations If training and solidarity payments ever happen in the U.S., the money should go back to the player unless he/she was on scholarship.

As has been discussed many times on the forum, players (and parents) develop players more so than any club in the pay to play format. We see coaches move from one club to another each season. The coach didn't suddenly get better because he/she went to another club. Same thing with players. The clubs that recruit the best and are able to pool the talent the best are the most successful clubs. In most situations, the credit should go to the player and not the club.

And while I’m thinking of it, if there are fewer college non-football teams, then you wouldn’t need many HS sports right? Just play Club soccer, no HS. It’s becoming like that in many sports. With the exception of football, club has already replaced high school for where most of the recruiting occurs. AAU is more important than high school basketball. Showcases has replaced high school soccer for recruiting purposes. Volleyball club>high school. Swimming club>high school. Summer ball for baseball > high school for both colleges and MLB draft.

It's so funny b/c Rapinoe said it best. Soccer is an expensive, elitest sport in America. Most of the most skilled players have parents that are willing to pay the time and money to have their kids be dope. When I watch these soccer games and I see these girls on the top level I just think to myself these parents are paying some good money for extra help more than once a week. Other than being a pain in the ass, we make these coaches' jobs pretty easy when it comes to players being techniquely developed. Can you blame these coaches for pulling top kids from other clubs to create these dream teams? I wouldn't be surprised if these coach's actually network with soccer trainers to pull these kids into the super teams other than just seeing them when they play against an opposing team. I admit, I'm a little bitter about not having the dough to get my daughter to this elite status that she deserves. I look at some of these kids that are in academy and they are amazing but how much are their parents paying for this to happen. This is what I hate about American soccer it's so disgusting it's ridiculous. I heard one kid actually has a Toca machine at their house on top of their father being a soccer coach. How can you compete with that? My cousin plays collegiate soccer and I went to their game when they made it to the women's NCAA soccer tournament and I overheard some of the careers of these parents and was like... that explains a lot. The crazy thing is that these elite kids a lot of times have a hard time transitioning into the collegiate ranks because they have to fight tooth-and-nail almost every practice to earn their spot which they're not used to doing because they've been playing on an elite team some times since they were damn near 10-12 yrs and we just move clubs if they didn't get the spot that they wanted on the current one. Now you've paid all this money over all of these years only for them to get to college and have to fight for position and then they graduate from college and make it to the pros (very small %) and make less than $20,000 a year. If you think I'm joking, I heard this from the UNC Chapel Hill coach's mouth during one of his parent workshops at one of the summer camps last year. So yes, a lot of these girls are elite but what's the price tag behind it all? Private training has exploded across all sports. Look at all of the athletic training centers that have opened to help kids be stronger and faster. Football has position specific training, 7 v. 7 teams and the like. Baseball has pitching trainers, hitting trainers, and fielding trainers. I actually think that soccer was kind of late to the party. Until recently, most trainers in soccer were club coaches picking up a few extra dollars for private training. Now, there is Toca, which has exploded, with a number of groups wanting to copy what Toca is doing.

I don't disagree with your comment about coaching - it's critical. All I'm saying is they didn't get their tactics from last year's coaching - there was a lack of development. In fact, some of the players regressed. Is that coach still at Concorde? Didn't he have a daughter on that team? Yes. Coach of 2008 SCCL team.

I hope the parents and kids who get coronavirus at one of these games express the same sentiment that having the coronavirus just “feels right.” Somehow I don’t think that is going to happen though.😂😂 Have you know anyone who has gotten coronavirus while playing soccer? Agreed these schools/conferences knew what was coming and clearly didn't do a good job of planning, certainly not as a collective group. Once the MAC conference made their decision the BIG 10 didn't have enough regional opponents to compete financially and safely. This is all about a lack of leadership in collegiate sports and yes all the other sports will suffer for years to come. IMO this is becoming less and less about CV-19 and more about control. If you can't maintain control you might as well fuel the flames and let it burn down and begin the rebuilding process. The other collegiate sports and those impacted professionally will be left picking up the ashes. MAC had nothing to do with Big 10(14) calling it quits. Big 10(14) had decided on a conference only schedule a month ago. The financial ramifications of the loss of TV money for the big schools and the loss of ability of the small schools to play pay check games will likely lead to most non-revenue sports that are not needed to comply with title IX being cut.

Its about time they move NCAA football and basketball (possibly baseball) to a minor-league professional system that is a fundraising arm of the universities. There is no reason to keep the current paradigm anymore. No need for them to be student-athletes as they're about to be professionals anyways. I am torn on the subject. If athletes take advantage of it, a free college education is a significant benefit. If you are talking about Vanderbilt ($73K per year), Duke ($77K per year), Northwestern ($78K per year) and the like, players are receiving a $300K benefit not including the academic support and training support provided by the schools. Also, i don't know how you would manage setting the pay scale for recruits and the like. On the football side of it, I have seen too many 5 star players not pan out while a 2 or 3 star, turns into a superstar.

The cynic in me wonders if the threat of cancelling football is more of an effort to keep the players from organizing than it is about safety. The timing of the talk of cancellation originated in the Pac-12 right after a list of player demands was presented.

The biggest difference for the Concorde Platinum 07 team is the new coach. You can have all the talent in the world but without having the right lineup, formation, adjustments, effective practices and respect of the coach - it means absolutely nothing. Last year, the team had plenty of talent, but a coach who failed to develop players - a frustrating year for girls and parents. The new team is comprised of 6 'original' Concorde players, along with Inter Atlanta and TH players (many of which were not homegrown). It's the right mix of talent with an exceptional and respected coach. It was the first weekend they've ever played games together, lineup and positions have not been solidified – so as the season goes on any kinks will be worked out. But regardless of where players came from - the team is now Concorde Fire 07 Platinum. There are not 6 "original" Concorde players on that team. There are 2 who played academy at Concorde and 1 who played 1.5 seasons in Concorde Academy as part of playing at a minimum of 3 different clubs (SSA, Concorde and NTH) during the academy years. The other 15 players that were added at U13 and U14.

SCCL-C, AKA SCCL, SCCL-Club, SCCL-Champions is a club based league where every SCCL-C (1 per age group, except U12 which can have 2 teams per age group) team per gender from one club plays every SCCL-C team per gender from another club. SCCL-P AKA SCCL Premier is a team based league with promotion and relegation. SCCL-P is divided into 1, 2 and 3 and is essentially the same system as classic or athena. Each team in P1 will play the other teams in P1. Each team in P2 will play the other teams in P2, etc. SSA is still in SCCL and SCCL-P as these names are reflected in a number of team names for SSA. This is how it was explained to me and what I have heard also. Does anyone know yet if it has been agreed upon what will occur with pro/rel between SCCL-C and SCCL-P1, or how the tops of SCCL-P1 will be rewarded? I think that if a club who is not in SCCL-C does well in SCCL-P across multiple age groups and genders then they can make the move up to SCCL-C. As far as winning P1, it would only be in the club, particularly with branch locations, decided that the P1 team was actually better than the SCCL team as changed how the teams under its umbrella were reassigned.

Between CESA and Concorde? Was it based on CESA jumping ship on SCCL (where they really didn't do very well) to the higher-profile ECRL league? I think most SCCL families would jump to ECRL if given a choice, and hopefully 2-3 ATL clubs start that transition this spring, even if it angers the leadership in SCCL. Could it be that some clubs simply have better relationships with other clubs? Contrary to popular opinion MOST clubs typically choose tournaments based on relationship rather than quality of competition. Of course there some exceptions based on the quality and aspirations of the team. Realistically IMO SCCL is on par with ECRL (quality of soccer). They actually perform the exact same function and under the same organization US CLUB. Why do you say ECRL is higher profile? Because E comes before S in the alphabet. You are exactly right though. Most of SCCL is the 2nd team of clubs in the ECNL or first teams of smaller clubs trying to move up.

Maybe. There is a big difference between D1 and D3. So many D3 conferences and schools had already canceled. That has not happened with D1. Second, scholarships versus none. Third, revenue generating versus not really. One thing that I think may happen is that some of the athletes are saying "no way! I am opting out!" If that happens a lot then I agree that all will be done. The mlb has already shown us the only way to have sports is in a bubble. Schools aren’t going to take the risk, states aren’t going to allow coaches to take the risk, short of playing locally only or just deciding this isn’t a big deal there’s no chance. Another domino drops.... www.google.com/amp/s/www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/29600577/uconn-becomes-1st-fbs-team-cancel-football-season-due-coronavirus%3fplatform=ampUConn is not a good example. They went independent this year. With the conferences deciding conference games only, they had no one to play.

Its official, SCCL-C is equal to Georgia Soccer. 9 games? Seriously? They downgraded the league this year and got in over their heads with SCCL Premier. Instead of something better, SCCL Premier is the same thing as GA Soccer and will probably have the same issues. With Tennessee out of the picture, they should have broken up into 2x 5-team divisions and scheduled the intra-division home/away and the other division as single games (total 13 games). Then have the top of each division play for the US Club National Cup automatic seed. Very disappointed. Will not do SCCL next year. ECRL/NPL if they bring it, but more likely will have to go for NL or ECNL. Is FC Alliance out of SCCL or are their games not scheduled yet?

Only 5 games and 2 of them are Christmas Eve and Christmas Day??? This appears at the top of the page: **SCHEDULE ANNOUNCEMENT** The August 22/23 (Hampton, GA) and September 5-7 (Greenville, SC) event matches are published. The September 26/27 (Wilson, NC), October 10/11 (Fayetteville, GA) and October 17/18 (Columbia, SC) event matches are not currently published, but will be published by September 1, 2020. How these events are scheduled will largely be determined by North Carolina return-to-play status. All team "self-schedule" matches appear in December, but will be adjusted once each team confirms match details with their opponent.

Uniforms shipped today for UFA teams that are playing this weekend. Your TMs should have received the tracking number. The gold jersey is coming from Lloyds, not NB. And its for this weekend only since there is an Adidas delay. What happens if teams have a really good tournament? Can they continue to use as an alternate jersey?

Hmmm. It seems like you would have better competition in an ecnl tournament considering Concorde has two ecnl teams. However ... with COVID-19... I understand. I think that it is more of the alliance with ssa and Cesa dropping out of sccl than based upon actual competition.

My youngest plays for Chiefs (err, "Rush Union") and she's had camp all week at the new Brook Run fields in Dunwoody (operated by the city). But our fields at Pleasantdale Park (operated by DeKalb Co.) are still closed because DeKalb is dragging their feet to re-open. Meanwhile Gwinnett has allowed UFA Norcross to hold practices at Pinckneyville Park since around early/mid June. I think clubs are learning some hard lessons. Yes it is cheaper to rent from City or County governments, but with that you are subject to their governance. Clubs should push to own their own fields to allow them full control... Just one man's opinion. Easier said than done. Closer in to town, land is extremely expensive and hard to come by making the only choices parks and schools. Even if you find land, it can be difficult. I remember 8 or so years ago, Concorde tried to buy their own fields off of Johnson Ferry in the Nancy Creek flood plain. The neighbors complained to the point that the county refused to rezone the land due to traffic concerns.

I get mandating players/coaches/staff all wear a certain brand as that’s just part of the gig. Look at the MLS, they’re all required to wear Adidas gear when representing the league except for cleats and GK gloves. Same goes for nfl and Nike gear, minus their cleats too. I know for college we all had the same adidas gear and they even bought us all Copas to wear which were allowed to be one time exchanged or upgraded if we wanted to pay the extra. (Mind you this was back with the White Beckham Preds so of course a few had to show off.) I would totally enforce my players and club to wear whatever brand we signed with. That would go for cleats to practice gear to whatever they wear when on the road for tournaments too. The argument of well we are paying for it doenst work because you’re also paying for the uniform but have no say in that either. Comparing cleats to uniforms is a false comparison. Everyone on a team needs to have the same uniform but that does not apply to cleats, shin guards, undershirts, headbands, hats, and the like. If it is required, include it as part of the uniform package with every kid wearing the same shoe. If not, kids and families are free to get what suits them best.

All reasonable, except GA Navy will likely finish in the top half of the southeast division also because the GA Southeast is not deep this first year. I think SCCL will finish higher also - likely top 3 in each age group. Don’t have a dog in this particular fight. So no biases. With the addition of Roswell into SCCL-C will push TopHat out of the top 3 within 05, 06 & 07 age groups... the 07’s were debatable, but after the number of TH defections within the age group solidified it...just my humble prediction. The Roswell 07 girls are really good. I look for them to be competing for a top three finish in SCCL with Concorde and tophat (assuming it is the Milton team)

Amazing that SSA has an accepted team list and the tournament is over 2 weeks away while Concorde's tournament is next week and no accepted team list has been published. I guess that since payment is not due until tomorrow, Concorde will not release it in case someone backs out on it. Don't want to appear to be jilted.

Well that’s not to hard as most brands have their max allocation. Like Nike (SSA, Concorde, AFU) all get $120K each cycle while Adidas maxs out at $100K (UFA, NTH, Roswell). Puma, New Balance UnderArmour, & Calpelli all vary around that $100K range too depending on the club. First time I've heard/seen the number! thanks!! and I endorse this practice: coaches should never have to buy gear and should be well outfitted! but the nikes/adidas/UA etc could throw some discounts at these mega clubs on apparel and uniforms. Do clubs also get any % of uniform sales or does it go straight to the soccer.coms/best buys/lloyds etc I won't disclose the club, but I know of an non-mls club that is aligned with Adidas --- not sure how, but they mandated that all players where Adidas cleats this season. Not sure what the punishment is or if they will enforce the rule ----- best part - they offered their customers/players no discounts on Adidas cleats The higher ups of Concorde have said that all players are required to wear Nike gear but have never enforced it. I have told them that if the gear is free that they can control what we wear. As long as we are paying for it, we will wear what is best for our family price and comfort wise.

I noticed a lot of field closures posted on websites early this morning for fields that have been utilized all week. Too early to make rainout call for today. Is this the beginning postponements? Anyone have any info? Most clubs have teams training throughout the day, starting as early as 8:30. The cancellations for today are due to overnight rain.
