"The minimum salary for an NWSL player is $6,842 for the course of the six-month season; the maximum is $37,800, made primarily by international-level players. The team salary cap for 20 players is $265,000, which doesn’t include the top U.S., Canadian and Mexican players who play on club teams but whose salaries are paid by their respective federations.

“It’s actually pathetic when I think about what we make,” says Deines, who played for Seattle Reign FC for the first two seasons of the NWSL.

Not in playing (unless they are the next Abby/Alex), but they can coach and still play semi-pro.

To make $$ the girls would need to go overseas. Here is the US unless you wind up being the face of the team and can get some big sponsors then you cant make a good living out of it.

By the way, Allie Long was the best striker on the field in the Portland Thorns-Boston Breakers match. And there was not a close second, including her teammate Alex Morgan. Powerful, confident on ball, skilled, hard worker, excellent movement off ball. And, yes, she is an American player.

There was a great interview at the Seattle Reign/WNY Flash half with Mele French she commented that "we pretty much do it for the passion of the game"

But my favorite was she was asked if now that she is in Seattle is she looking forward to seeing some world cup games since it would be held so close and politely replied " No, no ... she would be here in Seattle playing soccer for the Seattle Reign ...

She was a great ambassador of her team, the league and the sport.
