We got a little more practice in this week than I expected. Here's hoping that everyone manages to get in more games than expected this weekend! The season has been extended to 5/31. We might need that extra time - we're already holding some games during the week.
Here are my guesses for U14 girls:
Athena A Rush slipped a bit in the standings with their loss to Roswell but I bet they're very happy with their season so far. We'll see how well GSA bounces back after being pounded by SAF last weekend. Norcross and NASA are tied at the top of the division. Chiefs are struggling but aren't too far behind GSA, AFU and CF.
Friday GSA 1 - Rush 1
Saturday AFU 0 - Ambush 2
GSA 1 - Norcross 2
SAF 2 - Roswell 1
Rush 1 - Inter 2
DSC 1 - Chiefs 0
Sunday Norcross 2 - Rush 0
Roswell 1 - Chiefs 0
GSA 0 - Ambush 2
AFU 0 - SAF 2
DSC 0 - Inter 1
Athena B Savannah is at the top of B. Their big forward is leading the division in scoring but TH Navy has a player who's close behind. They'll play each other this weekend. TH-White, TSC and CF South are off to a slow start. MAYS has only played one game - I hope they manage to squeeze in all their games!
Saturday CF South 1 - TSC 2
SSA Blue 0 - NASA 2
MAYS 1 - Dawson 1
TH Navy 2 - Savannah 2
Sunday TH White 0 - Savannah 2
NASA 2 - Dawson 1
RYSA 0 - MAYS 1
TH Navy 2 - SSA Blue 0
Dawson 2 - TH White 0
Athena C
C has been a pretty even division so far. CFC is the only who hasn't lost but they have one tie. They have the leading scorer in the division. Everyone else has at least one win and one loss.
Friday NASA 1 – UFA 1
DSC 1 - SSA Blue 0
Saturday Lanier 2 – AFC 0
CFC 2 – SSA White 1
NASA 1 – DSC 1
SSA Blue 0 – Norcross 1
Sunday SSA White 2 - UFA 1
CF North 0 - CFC 3
Norcross 1 - AFC 1
DSC 0 - GSA 0
Athena D - South Georgia, AFU, TH and Augusta are off to strong starts. Athena E East - SAF has a strong lead. Athena E West - SSA Blue 2 is in the lead but SSA Yellow hasn't lost a game yet and hasn't given up any goals. ECNL - GSA is leading the division with CF pretty close behind. AFU is struggling. PLE - TH finished 2nd, UFA 4th, NASA 5th and SSA 6th. They represented Georgia well! National League - UFA was 4-3

Love the picks fan keep them coming. I don't want to hijack the predictions thread but that CF North team in C is an interesting story in failed development by a club in my opinion. Not to offend anyone out there. It was an extremely competitive team at the younger ages and a tight group and now only a few remain. I think the entire girls age group at u14 Concorde North was mishandled. I think only 2 girls are from concorde north on the u14 ecnl team (maybe 3). (they had 3 playups that are on their u13s). Should be a tough spring for them as I think one of their better players is out with injury.

CF North had a 2nd team last year but that's gone. I think some are on the Athena C team, some went to AFU and I'm not sure what happened with the rest.
It's probably a tough decision for players from North who are good enough to play ECNL. Their moving to that team is good for them but hurts the North team. On the boys side, it may be easier to keep top teams at both North and Central. However, with the girls there can only be one ECNL team.

The current C team is/was aways a 2nd team. All the top players from the top team left when they combined at u13: none I think chose to stick around to play on at that team an Athena b team.
3 or 4 from the top team played on the u13 elite team last year 3 were play ups from the top team and now are on the current u13 elite team. 3 or 4 quit:left;changed sports.
The current team is called "black" but the reality is this was at best a 2nd tier team

OK I don't post much, but I was amazed to hear from my daughter a rude comment from the U14A GSA coach that he said to her after their game yesterday. Her team won 2-0 and when she told him good game, he informed her that they got lucky in winning and apparently he told our coach the same thing. I took a look at their standings and they are second from the bottom and we are first place so I am not so sure luck had much to do with it, but was shocked at the nerve of that coach. I am glad we have a coach with class that would never stoop so low as to say that to a player or another coach.

My daughter had some similar comments from another club coach this season. Our experience this past weekend was one for the books, when a club has to bring 2-3 guest/ringer players on a full and healthy team and have the same number on two players the whole game to beat us is pretty bad and not teaching the girls anything. I do get it that you still have to play the game against whoever is lined up against you but wow.

I'm sure there are many times that a losing team or coach feels like the other team won by luck. However, a coach saying that to a player on the other team is inappropriate. It will be interesting to see what happens with that GSA team. There are definitely some players on the team who could play on any other club's top team. Will they stick around to stay on GSA's second team? It's tough to be a second team in A. NASA's second team is doing pretty well there but the other second teams are near the bottom of the standings.

Can anyone tell me about the SAF U14 girls team in Athena A. They crushed the GSA team a few weeks back and this last weekend beat Roswell 4-0.
Thanks!!

I think that's probably the team that futbolandcowbell referred to a couple posts up (2-3 guest players this past weekend). Maybe he can comment? I'm curious where they'd get their guests since it would need to be within the club. Maybe from their U13 Athena B team? Their other U14 team is in E so I suspect there aren't any ringers there.

They have a couple of ODP-level players on their U13 Athena B team. Could be that.

In U13 they were crushing everyone with those scores 7-0, 10-0 have great size advantage some big military families down there. Forwards were inches above everyone.
