I have nothing to report. Our boys played at Athens on Sunday, no psycho parents to be seen in action.
Do we have any nominees?
Basic rules of nominating - the psycho parent is ideally caught on video, with game venue and time, so as not to be vague. If video isn't available, a good description so if the psycho parent is notified they have been "outed", they will be embarrassed enough to moderate their own behavior.
No parent hit a ref this weekend? No parents fighting with their lawn chairs?
Please reply with any good ones.

Drama free games for us this past weekend so no nominees from me and this weekend's match is with a pretty sedate group - we've already played them in a tournament and it was actually a very friendly sidelines - go figure!
We're going to watch some of our old teammates play this weekend so I'll keep an eye (and video camera) out.

We had 2 of our u9 girls carried off the field the past weekend against DSC but I'll give credit for parents on both sides for doing their best to bite their tongues. It did help that the ref was outstanding and kept the game in check. Never seen so many fouls called against one team at such a young age group but by doing so he kept the parents in check. The game was a blow out in favor of DSC so it didn't hurt the outcome of the game but kept our parents from throwing a fit at all the fouls and injuries. I didn't get a chance to thank him afterwards but wish I did. It could've gotten nasty.

We had two players get broken bones in our game against UFA this weekend. That was a pretty nasty game.
The ref called a lot of fouls but didn't start booking until far too late, obviously.
The cards he did issue drew complaints from the UFA parents that he was racist, since one of the boys he carded was hispanic. The other boy was white.
So as far as parent behavior, that was the only real issue I heard.

I have never seen UFA parents exhibit a shred is class or civility. Spectator, that is a pretty broad generalization. That just cannot be true of the entire population of parents of a particular club. And I am not a UFA parent by the way. Despite the fact that I pretty much sit quitely and just cheer for good things every now and again, I often wonder what the other clubs' parents think of our whole sideline given that we have a few people that get carried away.

Terrible that parents called the ref racist. You'd better be pretty sure that someone is before you go around accusing someone of that. I'd be pretty angry if someone accused me of that. You couldn't pay me enough money to ref at games. I just don't think I could deal with things in the right way.

Point taken. Sorry for the broad brush In all the years my daughter has played soccer, at her age group, the UFA parents have been an embarrassment to their club. Last years drunken tailgaters at their tournament were the kicker. Tacky and classless.

I think the only logical conclusion is that the existence of this award is starting to have an overall positive impact on parental sideline behavior.

That is the goal! Hold psycho parents accountable.
Remember - charge up your smartphones for this weekend. Nothing like video to catch psycho parent antics.
I do appreciate the crosstalk... and drunk tailgaters at their own kids' soccer game? - holy crap, that is truly pathetic. Were they wearing camo?

Speaking of racist remarks and drunk tailgaters...When we were Academy a couple of years ago, we hosted a couple of clubs that typically scheduled together. One of the clubs (which is almost exclusively African-American) had some parents whom we believe had some alcoholic beverages in red solo cups. When confronted about it by the field marshall (who was white), they started throwing the racist card. To hopefully ease the tension, we called on one of our club employees who was also African-American to help out. It shouldn't have to come to that, but it was a really silly situation. Luckily, they calmed down and we didn't have to call the authorities. Folks should know not to bring alcohol to youth soccer games, not matter their ethnicity!

No camo - more like a college football game tailgate but tackier. At least four families had coolers in their SUV's and two women were the 'runners' who kept walking by us with huge tumblers full of mixed drinks. Our coach was completely disgusted - he could see the parents drinking across the field and they got very loud and obnoxious. A man and a woman didn't like some offsides calls so they stood right behind the teenage AR and started harassing him. It really was a display in the tackiness of that particular team/age group UFA parents. I think our team manager fired off a complaint email to the club. She said she never heard anything back from them acknowledging it or apologizing so needless to say, my level of respect for that club is pretty minimal to say the least. Psycho parents are everywhere but it's the club/coaches responsibility to nip it and hold people accountable.
