So our team played the Concorde u14 Girls Athena A/ECNL team. We knew a month ago, that they would load up their roster with ECNL players because the coach made it clear that he only wanted to make up our rained out game at State cup, really never offered any reasonable time slots. We were told 10-12 players. Not even sure what the final number was, but at least one more arrived for their sunday/monday games.
It was just a shame to watch in person, maybe 1 or 2 girls from the Athena A team played, I'm assuming some were told to not make the trip at all???
I won't get into detail on what I think is correct etc, because at the end of the day, they didn't make it out of the group.........
However, the one thing that I thought was just as disturbing, the athena A coach didn't even get to coach, when we played them, he sat in his chair probably in disbelief on what was done and didn't say anything, while the ECNL coach coached the entire game.
I hope the encl players were at least asked to pay the registration fees and coaching expenses for the weekend. I'm surprised the team manager didn't just ignore the instructions and only roster the athena a team for state cup. Thats what I would have done! I guess they really wanted that RPL spot??
Thats my next big problem, for the Athena A players, this is their time to shine, their big tournament of the year, its a great experience from both a social and soccer perspective. They were robbed of that for greed.
I'll end with the concorde u14 national team player CB, is a straight baller. Fun to watch! Her vision is 2nd to none, extremely smooth on the ball and one of the best youth players I've seen. She wreaks with confidence and just plays at different speed.

Your Athena A SEASON make-up game was played during state cup (which is perfectly normal) but they used players that weren't rostered to that ATHENA team? Or were they properly rostered on the Athena team, but just didn't play for them all season?

Correct, we made up our rainout at state cup. Well they ended up rostering all the ecnl players from what I heard at the end of the athena A season. I'm not sure if any or how many ever played a game. Maybe 1 or 2 every now and then, but at state cup, they essentially brought their ECNL roster minus a few injured players.

I heard 13 or 14 players??? feel bad for the Athena A girls, theyre the ones that put the hard work in and they were robbed at the end. And this goes to show that it doesnt matter if you're ECNL player or not. Wonder if they will leave club after that?
And i hadn't thought about the fees issue either...wow

And let's also give credit where credit is due and congratulate UFA Norcross Premier for advancing out of that bracket over all of those ECNL players.

Let's also point out that UFA has more girls teams in the final weekend than AFU, CF, and GSA combined.

Something doesn't smell right here... if this was an Athena game they had to use their Athena roster. That's how it always works, even if the Athena game is played at a tournament for scheduling convenience. Setting aside completely whether they can bring 12-14 extra players for the state cup games, the Athena game might have been invalid. 180.4c For U-11 and U-12, no team shall be allowed less than 8 or more than 14 registered players at any given time. For all U13 and older Select teams and U14 and older Recreational teams, no team shall be allowed less than 11 or more than 22 registered players at any given time; of these, no more than 18 shall be allowed on any game roster. If they can only have 22 girls on the roster, there's no way they could have 12-14 non-playing ECNL players rostered with their Athena team during the season. If that's the case, they may have played that Athena game with non-rostered players. I don't know if it matters to either team in terms of ranking, or maybe if the rules allow some other tomfoolery to get around this, but it seems like this might be something to consider.

I can't find the rained out game day roster I printed for the game this spring, but a roster from the fall only had 12 players listed (then I think on game day, they player passed 3 u13s).
SIC lists 21 on the roster ga state cup page, with 11 ECNL girls and two that are rostered on the u15 ECNL team!

Does it really matter anymore??? They lost anyway Actually I think it might matter. Didn't those 2 points keep them out of relegation zone and condemn AFU to relegation? If so, that is not right and this should be investigated more thoroughly.

True. But last spring they finished dead last with 2 points and were not dropped to B.

AFU should get their 2 penalty points back for the 1 red card which would jump them above Concorde and make Concorde in the bottom 2 relegation zone. According to Georgia Soccer Rule 740.1F "If at the end of the playing season, a team has 5 penalty points or less, no deductions from the standings will be charged to the team."
