I know that I bought into the negative hype on Jill Ellis and the team, and I definitely learned something.
The future looks bright if more players like Morgan Brian are in the natonal pool.

Have to agree. I think the depth of the U.S. Roster was the difference. We were fresh rolling into the semis and everyone else looked gassed.

I guess I should eat my words too. At the beginning I didn't see how they could be so dominant at this point in the tournament. I questioned Ellis's formation and line-up, but I wasn't alone, I heard the same from the commentators. But, they proved us all wrong in a big way. I felt it turned during the game Rapinoe and Holiday sat out. Brian got another opportunity and the team looked different. Lloyd came alive.
It was great to see. Wambach, Boxx and Rampone are finally World Champions. I wasn't confident at the beginning of the tournament, but I had a good feeling about tonight's match. I thought they would win. I just didn't realize they would win that big.
It's a great night for US Soccer!

England Canada Netherlands Brazil will be solid in 4 years. Don't forget Australia! Those girls have come a long way and the average age is like 24 on that team. Next summer in Rio should be hella interesting with all the retirements that are coming.

England Canada Netherlands Brazil will be solid in 4 years. Don't forget the French! I think it would have been much more interesting if the French were in it. They have a combination of skill, speed, and athleticism.

I am such a HUGE fan of this team, but still not sold on Jill Ellis. She would still be unsuccessfully rotating forwards and outside mids in a defunct 442 if it weren't for the Rapinoe/Holiday mandatory benching. The Germany and final game last night showed what kind of potential this team has to become unbeatable...man was it fun to watch. The Olympics should be really interesting next year! I did read an interesting article on Dawn Scott (the fitness coach) and her marginal gains approach. It was obvious the physical/athletic superiority of the US team last night. I hope US Soccer can retain her as shes already tried to leave once.

I hope US Soccer can retain her as shes already tried to leave once. I think that was the difference, our team played the classic american way, we will be stronger, faster, tougher and more fit than you! I think they flipped the switch in the China game like you said, when Rapinoe/Holiday were out. I'll eat my words, I thought Germany or France would get the best of this team. The Germany team we played had nothing left in the tank, they looked slow and worn down. We were rested and had a sense of freshness. Heck Press never got back on the field. Still amazing you can win the world cup playing that style of soccer. I think that is why I'm not impressed with Brian, I think its because the ball is always played over her vs through her. She did give the ball away alot yesterday. You shouldn't see that so often at that level, blatant passes to the opposition.

That didn't jump out at me, at all. I saw her (MB) as our best possession midfielder, who smartly closed down or spread the opposition with her positioning. All game long.
I also thought our outside backs wet great all month.
...and Lloyd was just a monster. Loved the shot from 1/2 field when she saw the keeper cheating forward.
