I watched some of the announcement and looked very similar to a year ago. The chanting etc.... What do you think?

I think the "other" MLS United team that wears black and red might not like this.
Name's not changing.. so I like it fine.

Still odd given Ga United is already in business also.
Doubt they would have used the "fire" name I get a million dollar entity not caring about the little guy, but still seems odd to not be able to come up with a novel name.

To me, it is more odd that we're excited about an "idea" than we are about the existing tangible, established pro soccer team in town. I will gladly support the new team, but it's just weird how it's done in this country, buying a team rather than growing it.
If Mr. Blank doesn't do something to absorb the Silverback into the fold, and instead just watches them wither and die, it'll be a tremendous shame. Soccer should be born from roots, not bought...
Oops. Wandered off topic there.

Oops. Wandered off topic there. I think the Silverbacks will be done after this year and the franchise will be moved. Maybe they play next year, but not beyond. It's unfortunate, but everything seems to be headed that way (to me).

Why doesn't AB just buy the Silverbacks for the facility? Seems like it wouldn't be that hard to put grass down or a bubble over the stadium for indoor practices if they go that route. The facility is in a easily accessed location and has extra fields they could use for the academy.

The facility is in a easily accessed location and has extra fields they could use for the academy. Having no true inside info -- my guess is Boris's number might be to high! And from what I hear the adult leagues are profitable (not sure if this is true or not), so there might be some hesitancy getting rid of it because of adult leagues success. But I agree 100%, would be the perfect spot, I think its about 15 acres, and would be perfect size for MLS team and academy. "Finding at least 50 acres of land for a training site has been MLS Atlanta President Darren Eales’ top priority. Eales told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution in March that the training site needs to be constructed no later than Dec. 2016 and that he preferred a site in or near metro Atlanta. Eales said he wants enough land to build a facility that can house the first team and the youth academy, with enough space for fields that can be used by the community. He estimated to accomplish that would require 15 soccer fields. A site that could house just the first team and youth academy could be accomplished in 12-15 acres."

Well, if they can get 15 fields built, hopefully that will mean State Cup can move here, maybe even ODP Region Camp.

Silverbacks stadium not a good location...anytime it rains a lot the fields are underwater ankle high at least. A few years back when it rained really bad, the whole place was underwater -- 6ft high, everything was ruined. There is also not enough parking
As far as the adult leagues...they charge $800 per team every 9 weeks to play, and thats not counting the fact that each player has to pay for parking every night. Theres 8 games going on at the same time every 50 minutes from 6.30 to 11pm and some nights a hispanic league starts at 11pm. This goes on almost every day of the week... On the weekends theres others leagues there as well, I think they make a lot of $$ from all of that

I guess the physical location is better than the geography.

Silverbacks is pretty solid but definitely not big enough to hold anything that size. I'm not sure about the rain, though it is nice that are club rents the fields for practices and games before the grass fields are rained out. Parking can definitely be an issue on a busy day, but I've never had to pay for parking there. The location would be convenient next to 85 & 285, but so would the option out in Marietta off 75 too. Just hope they don't go to far north since it is an Atlanta team.
